Ticking noise when slowing down

If happens only when clutch is in, I would look at the throw out bearing. When clutch is in, the throw out bearing is in maximum effect pulling the clutch back. The bearing takes a lot of wear, so if very old or clutch been replaced without the bearing, I would suspect this as a area of trouble

I have an 02 Ford Fiesta. Rattling soun when clutch is depressed.

Unfortunately, you can't really tell until you have the parts in front of you. If the clutch showed no signs of slipping in any gear, then the disk and pressure plate are probably ok. Throwout bearing troubles are usually heard as a sort of screech when the pedal is depressed. If the pressure plate is the type that has 3 fingers that are pushed by the bearing and one of the fingers was bent/broken, it would make a rattling sound. If the car has considerable miles, it might be worthwhile to replace the whole assembly even though the clutch itself seems to working well. Hope this helps!

Having trouble shifting...hear strange rattle when clutch NOT pushed in... sounds like a joint or bearing of some sort

Your throwout bearing may be nearing the end of its useful live. Your clutch may be in the same condition.

Please have this checked by your mechanic before any major damage occurs.

Won't go into gear when running, clutch rattle sound.

I would say it is your clutch (In your case it more than likely the throw out bearing if you hear rattle sound.) with the amount of miles and the year of the vehicle. Clutch plates, just like brake pads, eventually wear out. Consider yourself fortunate that you have gone this far without having to replace it.
