un top of your battery is a black box with fuses in in open it there will be a burned out fuse in there

My cigarette lighter doesn't have power for my GPS. Do you know how to check or replace the fuse for a 2000 VW golf?

Hi,

first check all your fuses and replace any blown fuses.
if that fails you'll have to check connections,but i think the fuse responsible for the cigarette liter is fuse no 33.

2004 VW GOlf 4door windows wont open,doors wont lock,trunk wont lock, what can cause this to happen all at once?

All these components operate via the central locking control unit. Check fuses No.4, 37, 6, 3, 14. If these fuses are ok, the control unit may be faulty and need to be replaced. The control unit is located behind the right dash panel.[on right hand drive vehicle , may be else where on left hand drive vehicle.

My vw jetta 02 won't start next morning even though I already replaced the battery I took it to a shop and they diagnosed a short. How can I find that short/

check your fusebox for a blown fuse, if not that, take a wire tester and see if you have power in all wires, then trace whatever wire is bad and replace it or follow it to a fuse

2000 VW Golf. My windows and sunroof won't close (no noise, no trying, nothing) but everything else seems to work fine. Any ideas?

Fuse blown - look for the one with the key symbol it powers windows/locks/interior lights/sunroof operation. Then work out why it blows...could be anything on the circuit so check a lock isn't sticking on/off when operating the central locking.

check if the cars electronic coil is working correctly or if it has contact points that may not be working correctly they may have to be replaced

Part of the Speedo on a Golf has a connection to the engine immobiliser If a fuse has popped it was for a reason Is there a warning light on the dash display which looks like an engine with an arrow through it ?? You need a man with a laptop and software to check which codes have ben lost or corrupted

2000 VW Golf Defroster, Vents, Stopped Blowing at any Speed

Look in your owner's manual index and turn to the page about Fuses. It will tell you where to find the blower motor fuse. Use needle nose pliers to remove it, hold it up to the light and look to see if the aluminum strip inside is blown. Replace with a fuse of the same amperage rating, it should be around 20 Amp, the numbers are stamped on the fuse. Fuses are widely available at car parts stores and department stores Kmart Walmart ect.

Speedo/tach only works after car has been sitting

More then likely the tiny electric motor called the "stepper motor" is defective, a common failure.

Check the fuse for the fuel pump.

trace the fuel line from the tank and where the filter is,disconnect it,and see if there is fuel pressure.or,get fuel spray and spray some into the throttle body,after disconnecting the hose that comes from the air filter.if the car runs then dies out,there is a fuel problem.get a spark tester and hook it up to one of the plug wires and see if there is spark...if there is no spark,check all the ignition fuses
