I spun my tires today because it was raining all week so very slick but after I did that my truck wont shift up until really high RPM it doesn't shift until i get to 25 mph it normally does it at 15 mph and i went all the way up to 30 mph in 2nd gear and didn't want to push it anymore because it was reeving really high so i didn't go past that any ideas?
Remove the battery cable & see if it will relearn the shift points
I doubt a 1992 even has that capability, you may have a failed trans
First, how many miles is on it? Has the trans been rebuilt? I had a similar problem. When I changed my filter I noticed a lot of metal debris stuck to the magnet in the pan. Try starting it and unhooking the throttle cable. Then by hand rapidly push the cable in and out. reconnect and take it for a short spin and see if that helps. If so something internally is creating metal shavings. Hope this works for ya.

SOURCE: Engine RPM too high when transmission shifts. Bangs into gear.
check your fluid level when the car is warmed up

You rear planetary set is worn from a restricted cooler.

Your going to have to get the ECM scanned, Auto Zone scan's for free and most garage now will scan for $10.00 to $15.00 since they all have the scanners now and need the business.
You could have a Vehicle Velocity Sensor (V V S) going bad or the wire harness it self. The V.V.S tells the ECM how fast the drive shaft is rotating and calculate's what gear it should be in relative with the engine speed and throttle position, and transmission fluid pressure.
Regardless you need the Blazer scanned to pin point why your transmission is shifting the way it is. Could be as simple as time for transmission oil and filter change for $125.00 or a loose wire harness.
Check your transmission fluid and try not to run the blazer to hard, to replace the transmission start at $1,900.00 for a rebuilt.
Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted

your trans is slipping from your discription or staying in a low gear, is the fluid burnt? have you tested the system control computer for transmission trouble codes?
