1990 lincoln town car turns on and when i put it on drive the car dont want to move at all whats wrong with my lincoln

How would someone know that,by guessing?

The car has to be test driven with professional
tools & then shop tested, after you go along for
the ride with shop folks & give them some insite
or help with the cars problems

Easy, most likely problem is low transmission fluid. Your owners manual will tell you how to check that if you are not certain. If the level is okay, there are many, many, many other things that could be wrong. Most transmission shops will test it for you, no charge; but they usually will want to rebuild your transmission. It seems they no longer fix a specific problem, they just rebuild. This old of a car... maybe it's time. I hope this is helpful.

GET it regassed as your out of R12 or Freon Just go to the AirCon service centre and it 30 minutes it could be done

check your relays and fuses i dont have a manual for your make so i cant off the top of my head tell you which ones they are but if you dont have a book for your car you should be able to pull what you need off of web try www.autozone.com good luck

sorry i dont have a manual for your car but i have found most of what i need to know on switchs,relays and most all specs by going to www.autozone.com good luck on your search hope they can help..

under the dash, above the break peddle are two switches, check for adjustment of those switches . one is for the break lights and another one is for the solenoid what is locking your shifter.

sounds like your trans linkage needs adjusting.

Hi Joe, what you need to do is go to a trans. shop and have them adjust the TV (Throttle Valve) cable. You can do this yourself but you need a really low PSI guage. When the line pressure is at 0 - 5 PSI, it will be adjusted properly. Usually only trans. shops will have the proper tools to do this. It's very important that the TV cable is adjusted right on the money or you'll smoke your transmission.

This could be caused by the transmission range selector switch on the tranny, no sure how without the wiring diagram, but seems to ring a bell from my 20 years at a ford delaer.
