Transmission cooler I want to add a tow hitch to my 2006 3.8 liter Caravan. I have heard this model already has a transmission cooler. Could you verify, or give direction how to find out if it does?

Having once owned a trans repair shop I
would never tow with that transaxle or any
front wheel drive transaxle

You can look in the grill & see all the coolers
& follow the lines & tubing to power steering
& transaxle

NO factory cooler will be large enough for towing

Do you change your trans fluid every 3 years or sooner,
on ALL vehicles you have ever owned?

Death Sentence to any trans if you don't

Power Steering Fluids as well

You could pull a small trailer just to take leaves to
the recycle center but nothing else.

Those caravans need to come from the factory with a
spare trans,60% of my shops work was those transaxles

SOURCE: I want to know how

Hi,

The towing capacity of 2006 dodge grand caravan is around 2000lbs unless you have the optional towing group which allows you a towing weight oh up to 3800lbs.

You can increase the towing capacity, but it wouldn't be worth it...stiffening up the rear suspension to carry a slightly higher tongue weight (which will then result in axle failure) and then increasing the cooling capacity of the transmission.
You would also have to increase the horsepower of the engine as it can't pull that effectively.

The best way to increase the towing capacity? Replace the vehicle...you are just going to be a hazard on the road and risk yours and others lives :-( Sorry, not the answer you wanted.

Good Luck!!

Thanks!!

1994 Toyota Corolla Corsa Hatch. How to fit a tow bar please? Looking for help with mounting points, wiring is ok.

Much better to go to a place like Hitch City and have them fix it. When you buy the tow bar for the vehicle, the mounting points are under the holes in the tow bar. Drill the holes, spray with bitumen underseal spray, add washers and bolts. Find someway to mark dead centre of the vehicle as that is where the centre of the hitch has to be. I hope you aren't towing a 40 foot twin axle boat trailer and boat, or even a full size caravan / camp trailer with that little vehicle!

Can this vehicle be made towable? Can the Factory towing package be added to the vehicle if it does not have one?

If you mean can the vehicle be equipped with a hitch unit and modified so that it can tow loads yes, it can. In most cases you have to get a special hitch, usually a low profile receiver type hitch and a transmission cooler if it's not already equipped with one. If it has a transmission cooler already they will put a heavy duty one in instead of the light duty one that more than likely came with the vehicle.

What is pulling capacity of 93 jeep grand cherokee

Towing capacity depends upon trailer design and actual tongue weight of the trailer and load. It also depends upon the condition of your rear suspension, engine size, the condition of your cooling system and if you have an add-on transmission cooler. (for automatics). Last, capacity is also determined by the hitch rating. Generally speaking, you should be able to pull around 5,000 lbs without problems.
If towing long distances or up steep grades it is wise to change the transmission and differential fluid before towing and service those more frequently than normal.

What is the towing capacity for a 1995 F250 XLT with a 7.3L Powerstroke engine and manual transmission ?

Depending on the condition of the vehicle and if you have a transmission cooler and what type of hitch you have:
1500 lbs with the bumper hitch - Max tongue weight on the bumper.
6 to 8000 lbs with a receiver hitch and torsion bars
8 to 10,000 with a Goose neck bed hitch.

What is the to capacity of a 2006 kia sportage i don't have the owner's manual and want to tow a trailer

Most cars are about 1/2 ton capacity(1000 pounds) Towing a small trailer should be fine as long as the weight at the hitch ball is less than 200 pounds. Load the trailer so the most of the weight is on the trailer not your car.Remember to keep the tire pressure correct on the trailer and your car and give yourself plenty of stopping space as the car will respond slower with the extra weight. Also try to take off kind of slow and easy so you dont over work your cars transmission. An add on type auxillery transmission cooler is recommended.
I hope this info helps you.

Do you need to have a oil coolent fitted for towing with pt

It depends on how heavy of a load you are towing. If it's your stated amount, you should at least have a transmission cooler added, unless the vehicle came with a tow package that included it. I would assume that your hitch weight will be around 100kg, and I don't think you need overload rear suspension parts for that, unless you also fill the back of the cruiser with heavy stuff. (You need to consider your total load, not just the trailer) Rick
