Power window control only works in freezing temperatures. Van only has the door windows, so it is a major inconvenience being unable to use it. By accident I used the control when clearing snow off of the vehicle and outside temp was in the 20s. Has not worked before or since. Does this prove the motor is okay?

These are cable driven regulators. Broken cable or roller are most common failures after bad switches. Read this post on how to test

I had the same exact problem.
I had bought the door lock and window control unit that goes in the drivers front door from a junk yard and replaced it.
Now I can lock and unlock the doors from the drivers side. Also, now all of the passangers can control their windows as long as the window lock is not turned on from the drivers door.
I am not sure what the actual drivers side window control unit is called. You do not have to unscrew anything to get to the unit out. The plastic piece it sits in just pops out. Then you remove it from the plastic piece and use the "wire connecter clip" to unplug the old unit and plug in the new unit.
You diffenently have a positive wire grounding out somewhere

it's probably a broken wire in the door jam on either the drivers sid or the passengers side.check the wires where the fold wher the door opens and closes

The switch itself may be faulty. Have you tested it with an ohmmeter? Have you tested power to the passenger switch with a voltmeter?
