I would check to see if the fluid is low, and replace it with Honda manual transmission fluid first. Honda manual transmissions originally used engine oil, never gear oil, then Honda came out with manual trans fluid. Either would work, but the Honda manual fluid would be better.

SOURCE: Rough shifting automatic transmission on Honda Accord from 1st to 2nd gear

it has a problem with the second gear drum it cracks and does not fully engauge the n shifts to 3rd ..many honda owners also learn the 8 bucks a quart is the only fluid to pour in a honda..but remember 3 qaurts per drain and fill the tranny holds 7q ....it will take a case to do a drain flush...a high pressure flush will ruin a automatic tranny with alot of miles or metal deposits floating around inside..DRAIN AND FILL 3 QUARTS AT A TIME NO GASKET NEEDED ITS BUILT AND DESIGNED LIKE A MANUAL TRANNY

SOURCE: 96 honda accord ex transmission shift problem

the first common possibilty would be to check fluid level, if the fluid level is good, I would recommend changing the transaxle fluid and filter. if this does not correct the issue, a professional transmission repair person will need to diagnose for you, good luck!

SOURCE: where do the ignition control module located in a

The ignition control module (igniter) is inside the distributor, as is the coil on your Accord (1990).
Hope this helps you find it (it looks vaguely like a circuit board with tabs on it).

Does Shift solenoid A&B control shifting into 5th gear on an automatic transmission?

First check the transmission MIL code , that will tell you if it is the Over Drive lock solenoid mal functioning , Do a tranny oil change with filter ,then replace fifth gear pressure solenoid , when you are there already .

Where are the syncronizers on a 1990 honda accord

All manual transmissions have synchronizes inside for each gear.
That is because the gears are all spinning freely in neutral, and when you want to select a gear, you have to lock it onto the shaft. Since the shaft and gear are not at the same speed, there is a binding mechanism designed to help force them to the same speed, so they can be locked together.
So this is all inside the transmission.
If you have having trouble shifting, check out the clutch adjustment and freeplay first. You don't want more than a half inch freeplay, so that there is maximum disengagement of the clutch when the pedal is pushed to the floor. You might also want to check fluid level with plug in side of transmission.

Is honda accord 1990 ex is a sport car

No, it is a midsize sedan. The automatic transmission gained a sport-shift mode, where gear selection could be manually chosen.moz-screenshot-4.png4ba4ba2.jpg

My 1990 handa accord revs up and down after idaling

It's your "slow ideal valve" It's located on the intake manifold, near the driverside. There are 2 screws on top, remove the screws, Next get a flat head screw driver, now your gonna see a white plastic like saucer shape piece in there.. Now your going to turn the saucer shaped piece clock-wise and your screwing it back down, out the lid/cap back on, tighten the 2 lil screws, and start the car, the up nd low idle is gone..!!!!

I have a 1990 honda accord ex and the gear shift keeps locking up and you have to use the key to unlock it on the shifter why is this what could be wrong?

If the car is an automatic, which it sounds like it is. There is nothing wrong with it, it locks the transmission shifter so no one can steal the car and so it won't move or roll.

Flashing green s on the dash

A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.

1990 Honda Accord EX Transmission

possibly due to low trans fluid pressure. the cooler in the radiator may be plugged. to check, disconnect and bypass cooler with rubber line & clamps. drive 2-3 miles. shifting OK now? install auxillary cooler to bypass one in radiator. you can get one at auto-zone $30-$50. may just need fluid & filter change, but more likely it's the cooler. when they get plugged, either one, pressure drops alot.
