Take your battery out and have it checked, specific gravity, and load test. Your battery, you say is charged but may have a bad cell or not have the cranking power to turn over your truck. You say 6 starters in 5 years. Was there any new batteries during this time, or is this one the only one. The way you describe your problem leads me to believe your battery is the problem.
My guess is the ignition needs to be replaced. check to see if theres a recall for it. 2 years ago on my 2002 alero I found a recall for the flasher switch which was causing intermediate directionals and 2 more for the computer
It,s on the side of the engine, cleverly hidden behind the starter. disconnect your battery, then remove the starter. the sensor is behind it, held in by one bolt. if you buy your new one first, it will help you identify the one in the engine.sometimes the will rotate in the hole, but won't like to pull out. pry gently, and stick with it. it will come out . install new sensor, reinstall starter, and your all set. good luck!
Everytime you replace the starter? how many starters have you replaced? Why are you replacing starters? May be you need to start buying quality parts. The Starter has nothing to do with the battery light. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. That can whipe out the engine computer.
