97 jeep cherokee electric fan problem

1997 cherokee country, electric fan only comes on when engine is cold. even a-c override will not get it to come on when hot.

fixed problem. fan motor was bad (brushes stuck) motor would not run when it got hot. re-set computer to eliminate fan running when cold. Previous owner had had aftermarket control module for the fuel injection and I think this confused the computer about what temp was actually. everything working perfectly now. Thank you

Sound like coolant temperature sensor is open or not working.scan it to see when engine get operating temperature when coolant temperature get 190 degrees the coolant temp sensor should show 190 degrees if it shows 80 degrees or lower it not working replace it.the coolant sensor control coolant fan.when it gets hot it resistance changes or lower.the pcm grounds it .then cooling fans will run.

is the ASD relay dropping out, for any of the 8 reasons
did you fail to use a scan tool and see why???????

I have installed new front shocks on My Jeep Cherokee and when i hit a bump it still fills like the front end is still hitting bottom and suggestions. It is a 97 Jeep Cherokee Country in great shape...

You may want to replace the coil springs on the front.

Yes, cause that sensor operates the electric cooling fans by the radiator, if those fans or fan don't come on, the radiator can't cool down as quick and causes the engine to run hotter.

My 97 Jeep Cherokee Country 4 cylinder is overheating after about 8-10 minutes of being on. It is not leaking coolant. Is this the thermostat? Is it the sensor? Is it the water pump? Engine does...

The problem that you discribe Is a fault thermostat. Also with high mileage on engine , you will have alot of piston slap noise that's common.

1997 Jeep cherokee back door latch....was difficult to open requiring multiple tugs, and now won't open at all.

The latch on the gate holds and locks itself on a peg on the floor panel. These are adjustable and after time can move causing the problems you have now.

You may have to get in the boot / trunk and remove the inner panel to access the lock internally to open but try this first:

Pull up latch handle and keep holding it up until open, shoulder firmly the backdoor as if you are trying to close it hard, it should click, then pull open.

Actualy check the clutch fan. It might still turn but its not engaging annd is having no effect in cooling the motor.

OD light on 97 Jeep comes on when it's cold outside

Calvin...... You need to treat your Jeep to a new THERMOSTAT. The Overdrive is connected to the engine coolant temperature and if the engine is n ot warmed up properly, the Overdrive will not engage. Try to get a thermostat from the Jeep dealer so you will have exactly the right one, some of the cheapoie ones will not work right. Dave in Iowa

Air coming out the vents

The flow direction is accomplished with vanes that are dependent on engine vacuum to operate. You may have a hose off or cracked so the vanes are not answering to the settings you choose.
