Can i retrofit a trip computer to a 1999 merc e430

I have a 1998 e430 that does not have the trip computer installed. I also have a wreck that does have the trip computer including the steering wheel with buttons and the dash with the added display. can I swap the wreck's trip stuff into the other e430? Does the one without the trip computer steering wheel and display have the right computer and wiring without the user interface (wheel & dash)?

The first thing a Tech (or I) would do in this case is check the BCM (body control module) for a fault code related to these issues. A scan tool will be needed to start this procedure. Otherwise, to guess at a cause would not be a cost effective or correct approach for diagnosis. Your vehicle has many circuits and control modules that control these accessories, and scanning the system will help pin point a solution.

firstly disconnect the track rod ends from suspension and turn each suspension unit on its own to check for tightness ,then lower front suspension onto some stands and try again ,if both sides still move freely then you need a new steering rack as the spool valve inside the rack is faulty

Yes. You can obtain one from a scrapyard without the need to download software like the later P2 cars. You will also need the "info" selector switch for the dash.

A C quit blowing cold air. Is there a kit that will replace the refrigerant? And if so would it be available at Walmart?

1991 might be an R12 system. If so finding the refrigerant will be near impossible. Federal regulations took it off the market and now an 'ozone friendly" R134a refrigerant is used. You will need to retrofit your system to use this new refrigerant. wal Mart probably doesn't carry the "retrofit" kit. You need to make a trip to your local auto parts store for the kit.

My expedition was in a wreck. the boby was fixed and now their electric problem the ins. is trying to say thats not from the wreck but it was would a diagnotic prove it?

current issues,just what is malfunctioning

Call the dealer for a quote. Then call a local IMPORT used parts/wrecking yard to see how much a used wiper motor is. Most mechanics will install a lot cheaper than the dealer.

Sorry, but i don't know how hard it is to change out this part.

I have a 1999 merc sable that will not blow hot air. A/C works fine. Replaced the Radio, Heater, A/C control panel with no help. i think it is the heater control valve but have no idea where it is. The...

acuator is undrer dash behind glove compartment. Be sure your coolent level is full . does it blow warm air on long trips and does the car come halfway up the gague when running if not change thermistat if that is not your problem check vacume line going to actuator (changes positions heat defrost and vent) make sure heat control is hooked up if none of the above are the problem replace blocked heater core please check box below if helpful

Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs manufactured in or before 1995 use R12 refrigerant. You mustretrofit these SUVs to accept R134 refrigerant using a retrofit kitavailable at your local auto parts store before you can recharge thesystem. In some areas, a license is required to retrofit an airconditioning system. If this is the case in your area, take your Jeepto a professional to retrofit the system.

Locate the Low Pressure Side connector port: You will find it on the driver's side of the engine.

Nothing is impossible, If you are going to try it, you should get a complete unit (everything related) from a wreck. However, the time and amount of work involved is likely so complicated that you will wish you never started the job. Units are installed before engine and dashboard, making it far less of a pain when at the factory.
Personally, I'd drive with the windows down or buy another car with a/c before doing this. (and I've been in the business a really long time!)

How to reset service for E 270 cdi

Try this, it is the procedure for resetting the ASSIST computer on some Mercs
1...Turn Key to position No:2 in the ignition / steering lock 2...Press AND Hold the button "000.0" (the trip reset button) TWICE within the space of 1 (one) second and turn the key to position No: 0 in the ignition / steering lock - release button 3...Press AND Hold the button "000.0" (the trip reset button) and turn Key to position No:2 in the ignition / steering lock
That should do it....The service indicator will reset and an acoustic signal may briefly sound
