Pull a plug wire , set the end close to the engine, crank it and watch for spark. No spark could be the cranks sensor, wires, ignition module , fuse, or PCM. Have the codes read. Could be the fuel pump too. I have had them die shortly after installs.

Are you asking about the FIRING ORDER diagram connections?

Check the right wiring diagram connections... 2002 Mercury Cougar 2.0 liter DOHC L4 VIN "3"

i am guessing you are talking about a 2.2 liter ?if so the firing order is 1 3 4 2
