Hello, a very common problem for cylinder misfires are the ignition coil packs, remove the spark plug and replace the plugs if necessary then replace the coil pack if the misfire persists, the #3 cylinder it at the cylinder head near the firewall and is the one in the middle of the head.
Change the coil pack from cylinder 3 to cylinder 1. If you get a code p0301 after the swap, then that coil pack is bad, replace it. If you still get a p0303, then check the wiring to coil pack 3. If you have a combination coil pack, then replace the whole unit.
Check engine light on ? Code's ? What engine ? 2.3 l 4cylinder or 3.ol v-6 This vehicle has coil on plug ignition system , not coil packs ! a coil per cylinder . If new coils an still has no spark , has no B+ voltage to the coil or the PCM isn't controlling them . Without testing i'd only be guessing as to the problem .If the repair shop you had it to can only say it had to be the coils , I'd find another shop to take it to ! Autolite Coil on Plug Ignition troubleshooting
P0105 - MAP Sensor Circuit Insufficient Activity. If it is the 3.4 or 3.1L engine The Map sensor is located towards the back of the engine by the coil packs.Would verify that it is plugged in and also that the vaccum line going to it is not cracked,If all this checks ok then map sensor may need replaced.
did you replace only one spark plug? that can cause issues because of differences in resistances between cylinders. also, did the map code stay off after replacing ?
I have a 1999 ford escort 2.0, its got a miss on cylinder 3 and 4. I changed the wires and the coil pack but its still missing. When scanned I get code p1506, p0303 and p0304
it is always a good idea to stay with o.e.m parts and yes there is updated parts in the newer coils. and yes the M.A.F will also cause misfire faults but will not make check engine light flash or make car shake and shudder. also check you wire harness going to your coils make sure your ground wires are not cracked. That could be the main culprate. good luck hope this helps
