This feature is programmed into the smart junction box(interior fuse panel) If your vehicle was originally equipped with this feature then you may just need to have it reprogrammed or turned on by the dealer with their scan tool. If it was not originnaly egipped then the smart junction box would have to be replaced.

Yes that would work but I would recommend using relays and not just wiring it straight to the bulbs. Hook the coil side of the relay to the vehicle bulbs and ground and hook the switch side from a fused power source to the trailer bulbs.

Is there an easy way to get wiring for a trailer on a 2010 Ford Escape?

Your local auto parts store should have a wiring harness that will clip in to your existing harness. Modern vehicles mostly have a harness coupler under the back of the vehicle you can unplug and plug in the trailer harness without having to cut anything, making the installation very quick and painless. The harness plug may have a plastic lock which you will need to release to separate the two sides of the harness. I recommend putting dielectric grease in both sides of the trailer harness to prevent corrosion from knocking out your trailer lights. The trailer harness kit will have instructions and a diagram to guide you.
Hope this helps and please rate my solution!!

How do you install wire harness for trailer hitch on a 2007 silverado classic pu? Do I have to drop the spare tire inorder to access the tube that goes to the bumper , and how do I feed the wires through...

these are all snap together now. you buy the harness as a unit. it should tell you where to unplug your existing lights. this is usually on the driverside rear close to the bumper. you just unplug your existing light , plug in the new adapter then plug in the new trailor wires to the adapter. you get these at any parts house like autozone, even wal mart sells them. it is so simple it takes about 10 minutes.

Towing with a Hybrid

I have the same vehicle. Go to Ford dealer and buy the trailer hitch which replaces the regular rear end. It took me about two hours to install and I have towed a heavy trailer several times now with no problem. Because this is a unitized body/frame vehicle, it would be unwise to try to weld a generic hitch on. The Ford hitch fits right on to existing bolt holes. You have to cut a small square notch in the center of the plastic rear bumper for the hitch to stick out.

Don't know if it changed later...
