SOURCE: 2003 Ford Escape transmission problem

Hi nwmn,

I've never heard of that device..... But as I'm in Africa, so maybe not surprising?..... I do know that cooling the auto trans is very important and failure to have efficient cooling can result in failure.... Please contact your dealer and find out what they suggest..... It may be that you need a larger ratio of coolant anti freeze in the radiator..... Your agent will give you the info....

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Escape...Transmission light flashing

A converter should last 15 to 20 years ,if you have no issues
You obviously have issues, stop everything, and find problems and correct first, before replacing a converter.
The converter, like everything else, has to be tested, before replacing.
Might need a better repair shop

I had the transmission rebuilt last august a 2002 ford escape 3.0. It worked fine until yesterday. It just slips

First check the fluid, add as necessary then return to the shop that did the work, it should be under warranty. I hope this helps. Take care.

2002 ford escape starts but wont stay running unless the foot is kept on the pedal. took it to a shop and had a diagnostic test on it. It's saying there is nothing wrong. Mechanic said it must be

Computers rarely fail. The diagnostic would not show anything wrong unless a trouble code is set UNLESS the diagnostic used live data vieew. Most shops dont do that . So at what RPM does it not die? How many miles are on it? Ford uses something called an idle air speed motor. They are prone to fouling.

I have a 2001 ford escape 2.0L and i was having trouble of it turning over when the car was warm. If it was a cold start it would start right up. If i drove for a while then turned it off, it wouldnt start back up unless i let it sit for an hr or 2. But once started it would run fine

SOLUTION: I changed the fuel injectors $120 for parts. And now all the hot starting problems went away.

Hope this helps

This will happen if the Torque converter goes bad or the TCM module. As well as any number of Solenoids inside the Transmission. When the Torque converter goes bad it the transmissions puts too much drag on the motor when you engage a gear. Basically it's like dumping a clutch on a standard. Have the transmission checked. Although I must say, if you have a mechanic or service shop looking at this I'm surprised it wasn't the first place they went after you explained the problem. You were most likely experiencing a loss of gas mileage as well. Were you using more fuel than normal prior to that point.

LOOSING ANTIFREEZE FROM MY 2002 FORD ESCAPE AND CAN FIND WERE IT IS GOING. BUT CHECK MY TRANSPISSION FLUID AND IT IS OVER FULL AND IT LOOKS LIKE PINK FOAMY FLUID.

transmission cooler in the radiator seems to be leaking, its a heat exchanger that transfers trans. fluid heat with coolant, ret the rad replaced and and the transmission flushed not just drained and filled cause when you drain a trans you do not empry the torque convertor so have it done my a reputable shop

Have the transmission serviced, Change the transmission fluid and filter and have the transmission shop check for any codes and see what the line pressure is at. I fluid could just be dirty and the servos could be sticking due to the dirt. "metal and clutch wear" try adding some transmission additives to loosen up the dirt and then have the transmission service after 100 miles of driving. Service intervals for your transmission should be no more then two years or 36,000 mile to keep the servos from sticking which the cause transmission failure. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted, be glad to answer any more questions you may have.
