Yes, you could probably do that. Although your MIL light (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) or your check engine light, will be constantly on if you eliminate the ABS system. Kind of a quandary, but a working abs system is a positive safety feature.
Year/make/model?? The brake light will normally come on with the ABS light if there is a malfunction within the ABS system. You will need to have a scan test performed on the ABS module to see what codes are present that will provide a basis for diagnostics and correct from there. The hydraulic brake system will function normally, however, the anti-lock portion of the brake system will be inoperative as long as the ABS light remains on
Your antilock brake system is malfunctioning due to low fluid or excessive brake wear. When this system is malfunctioning, your traction control system is prevented from operating by the master control module. Take your car down and have your brake system checked. This is not for the typical do it yourself mechanic at home. The most important thing on your car is it's ability to stop before causing something or someone some real problems.
ABS SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING or CHANGE THE FUSE under the hood if the fuse is blown both lights will activate. If the ABS light stays on then pull the ABS fuse
On occasion an ABS light will come on when a brake light is out. So check your brake lights first. Your ABS light is on because there is a malfunction in the ABS system. Is your brake warning light and your ABS warning light both on? This would be an indicator of a major malfunction in the ABS system. Stop driving the vehicle and fix this immemorially. If only your ABS light warning light is on this will not effect normal braking but the ABS system is disabled while the ABS warning light is on. You still need to have it repaired but you still have brakes for the moment. Now the code for this fault will be stored inside the ABS memory module. So you pinpoint this with scanner. Hope this helps
The warning lights are indicating a malfunction has been detected in either the sensing or actuation portion of the ABS system. Your base brakes will function normally but in the event of an ABS controlled stop on an "icy" or "slippery" stretch of road were the ABS system would take over to prevent a skid, that automatic system will not function.
Have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes to find out which portion of the system has malfunctioned.
Good luck,
Regards,
The ABS light stays on if there is a malfunction in the ABS system. If you DID get it turned off; & only by using a scan tool, it would come right back on if the vehicle has a definite malfunction.
Checking the Hybrid System: You def need a Toyota scan tool. No other way to check it.
