No, there isn't a reset. When you run out of fuel, after refilling turn your key on without starting the vehicle. You should hear the fuel pump working for a couple seconds. After the pump stops then try to start the vehicle. Because you could hear the fuel pump working, it is possible that your fuel filter is dirty/clogged. I hope this helps.

the fuel pump on many such cars has a plastic impeller it depends on a supply of fuel to keep it cool ...when you run of of gas then it can quickly overheat and damage the impeller ...you can have the pump tested for flow rate and pressure .. if bad then its an expensive repair (what isnt anymore) ... check the fuel pump fuse ... listen for the pump to spin up when you first turn on the car ...the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank .. some cars require dropping the tank to get at the fuel pump

It could be that in the process of having the fuel tank straps fitted some dirt or rust inside the tank has come loose and clogged the gauze input filter that is part of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. You will need to remove the pump assembly from the tank. Access to it is usually through a removable plate in the floor under the back seat. Once you have the pump assembly out allow the gauze filter to dry. You can assess the amount of clogging by sining a torch through the gauze and see how much light comes through. Clean it by brushing with an old tooth brush and blowing clean with compressed air. If there is a lot f dirt/rust in the tank, try draining it. You may have to repeat the cleaning process again in few months if the symptoms appear again
