The car starts and drives and runs fine. It just had a tune up and new oxygen sensor and catalytic converter. It is like a phantom kill switch. The car is running fine then all power is lost it has happened twice once I had it towed to a mechanic who ran diagnostics on it and found no codes on the computer. He tried to start it and it ran fine again. I died again today and I pulled off the road when I lost power. I made several attempts to restart then it started after a couple of minutes. What are my options?
The neon has a problem with the wiring near the engine mounts in that it breaks or otherwise looses connectivity and that set of wires are for the cam position sensor
with that sensor not reporting to the ECM , the engine is turned off when there is not reaction from the engine , connection is restored and so ti start up again
check in the wiring harness in that area for the problem
I have a 2000 dodge neon, when i drive for a good 5 mins the car just shuts off but the lights and everything are still on. Its almost like the car just runs out of gas but has a full tank and also says fuse on the speedometer but im guessing thats a different problem

Hello
Something that you may want to check, or have checked is the, ( MAF ), " mass air flow ", sensor.
Some of the symptoms are, bad idle, loss of engine's power, stalling, and eventually preventing the
engine from starting, especially in cold weather.
This is usually easy to check;
The sensor is usually located in the air intake duct system, the duct system that the air filter is in )
between the air filter and the engine. Most have a plug with 4 or 5 wires. Very carefully discon-
nect the plug. If the engine doesn't start either remove the battery cables and clean them very
good, or try to jump start the engine. Once the engine is running leave the plug off and go for a
short test drive to see if you notice the engine performing better.
You can drive while this is disconnected, but try not to do that too long. It can cause other
sensors to trigger the, " check engine light ", and over a longer period of time can damage the
catalytic converter.
Some handy people go to a parts store and get, " mass air flow ", cleaner. It does seem to work
well, but you have to follow the instructions very closely.
I hope this helps you.

Check the timing belt. Sometimes the timing tentioner goes bad in them.

Sounds like you are having a fuel problem with the fuel filter. If you have not had your car serviced in quite awhile i would do so. At least change the fuel filter and check the air filter as well. Hope thias will help you.

mcdevito75 Here, It"s possible the ignition Module is going bad, no way to test and if so, one day the car will not start at all.----------It can also be a vapor loc, wher the fuel is evaporating before it reaches the cylinders. Best Bet, have your local shop check both these items.
