SOURCE: front panel temperature control switch

Very likely the blend door is broken. This door is mounted beside the heater core, blends cool air with hot depending on the position of the door. At the bottom of the door at the hinge point, there is a gear and coupling driven by an electric motor to position the door. The coupling is a drive much like a square drive ratchet and socket made of plastic and often cracks allowing the drive to turn without changing the door position. I've heard you can drill through the outer housing and put a screw in the door through the drive gear, but you would have to know your way around this area well.
I repaired mine by replacing the blend door, a big job at best. The entire dashboard must come out to access the top of the heater core housing which must be removed.

SOURCE: ac only blows through defrost vents

I just found my problem that often brings in a Check Engine light, and reads out a PO 442 code. When my A/C is on my heater would start working because a vacuum operated control door would slam shut when accelerating. Also my cruise control would stop when going up a large incline.

the first thing to check, and easy is the cruise control for a bladder leak. Look on the top side passenger side of the firewall, and you will find a three way vacuum hose connection. One will be a very small black plastic line that runs to the cruise vacuum actuator. Pull this hose loose at the fire wall connection. Blow in this hose, and if it will not hold pressure, and in my case I could hear air passing through it is defective needing replacement. Block off the firewall connection for A temporary fix.

SOURCE: only hot air comes out of vent with ac on

Blend door motor has malfunctioned, or has a vachum leak This needs a lot of tools to test and fix, it could be the control head bad as well. so Let me know if you have the tools and the time ability to do this and we can do a diagnostic fix on it.

Why would my blower, vent, defrost, ac and heater just quit blowing air?

There are several possible reasons why your blower, vent, defrost, AC, and heater might stop blowing air:

1. Blower Motor Failure: The blower motor is responsible for blowing the air through the vents. If the blower motor fails, you will not get any airflow from the vents.
2. Blower Motor Resistor Failure: The blower motor resistor controls the speed of the blower motor. If the resistor fails, the blower motor may stop working or only work at one speed.
3. Fuse or Relay Failure: A blown fuse or faulty relay in the blower motor circuit can prevent the blower motor from working.
4. Control Module Failure: The HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) control module is responsible for controlling the blower motor and other components. If the control module fails, it can prevent the blower motor from working.
5. Vacuum Leak: If your vehicle uses a vacuum system to control the vents, a vacuum leak can prevent the system from working properly.
6. Broken Blend Door: The blend door controls the direction of the airflow. If the blend door breaks or gets stuck, the air may not flow through the correct vents.
7. Wiring or Connector Issues: Faulty wiring or connectors in the blower motor circuit can prevent the blower motor from working.

I have a 2003 envoy xl. heat and ac only come out driver side defrost & left vent.No air or heat out of driver or passenger floor .Passenger vent and defrost is cool air only

Air temperature and delivery are controlled via small actuators on the heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC) box located behind the dashboard. These actuators operate doors inside the HVAC box in order to channel air through different passages to achieve the desired result. A "blend" door actuator can channel air through the heater core, around the heater core or a mix of these two to achieve the desired temperature. A "mode" door actuator can direct airflow to the ducts that lead to the defrost vent, front vent, floor vent or a mix between. When a vehicle has dual climate control (where driver and passenger sides of the vehicle can have different air temperatures) there can be multiple of actuators of each type which can make diagnosis difficult. The first step would be to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the HVAC Control Module using an advanced level scan tool; these codes help determine the location of the issue and if it's an electronic or mechanical failure. Electronic failures would include items such as HVAC control module failure, actuator circuit failure or actuator failure. Mechanical failures would include items such as actuator failure or internal HVAC box door failure. Air is not blowing from front vent only top vent

You might be in need of a new ac control module. It goes inside the dash board and it switches from heat to cold and which vents to use.

Had the battery changed, but now the (heat) vents in the top of the van and the floor vent (heat) does not work - only cold air comes out. Also, the heating/cooling dial lets it get hot midway on cold...

Try this calibration procedure and let us know if you have more questions:
  1. Start the vehicle.
  2. Wait 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate.
  3. Verify that no DTCs have set as current DTCs.
  4. Clear all DTCs.
  5. Place the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6. With the Mode knob in the PANEL position, press and hold the AC button for 5 seconds.
  7. Rotate the Mode knob fully counterclockwise.
  8. Rotate the Mode knob fully clockwise.
  9. Rotate the Mode knob fully counterclockwise.
  10. Release the AC button.
  11. Wait 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate.
  12. Start the vehicle.
  13. Verify that no DTCs have set as current DTCs.

Lincoln mark 8, a/c was working, then kept starting and stopping now dead, compressor works, fan wont blow, even on vent or heat....where is the fuse/relay for this or what else could it be?

It is the blower motor,or the blower relay module, near the blower motor, and check the ac/heat control unit,if the blower ,and relay module turn out to be good.
