1993 Honda accord LX 2.2L 5spd manual will not start when it is hot. It starts, runs fine when it is cool, but the other day it shut off as i was driving down the highway. It has to do with the spark; there are no sparks going to the plugs when it is hot and i am trying to start it.. I heard it was the distributer, is this true?

The first thing is to make sure the coolant is full, check it when the engine is cool, check radiator level, if coolant is full then check for bad thermostat, run engine and as it overheats check both hoses to make sure they are both hot, if one is hot and the other warm then you will need to replace the thermostat.if both hoses are hot then you may have a bad cooling fan or sensor, hope this is helpful.
The Main relay on your vehicle is defective. When the relay is operating while the engine is started and running, it gets hot. Add the hot weather to the relay and they break inside. The relay is located on the side firewall driverside above the left kick plate inside the car,and is secured with a 10mm hex cap screw (bolt). Replace this relay, and your vehicle should start.
It looks like this;
I believe you are correct. I am on my second 1993 Honda Accord and the relay you are talking about is under the dash on the driver's side--Relay Assy. Main. My previous car did the same thing as yours. This is an easy fix for a do-it-yourselfer but tight area under dash.
Sounds like the pgmfi relay is going out. This is a common problem with these cars. They get hot and dont want to work, they cool off and everything is ok.
check thermostat might be sticking or radiator may need flushing if it only heats up while idling check your electric fan may not be coming on try turning on the a/c the 2 cooling fans should come on then if they do then i would check the cooling fan switch if they do not come on when the a/c is switch on you may have a bad electric fan motor or wiring to the fan or fan relay
thank you for the advice. I will let you know when i do that.
