The remote will not allow the truck to open on the vehicle. Also, the taillight warning light is showing on the dashboard.

This is task for an auto electrician but you could check the wiring connection on the column possible only earth wire is disconnected. Especially if the horn doesn't operate as well. Allan Caution!!!!!!! Do not attempt to remove or test any yellow coated wiring or airbag assembly danger will trigger airbag deployment.

SOURCE: noticed that warning light on my dashboard is
This is a new one the engine service light is on and its caused by teh speed sensor?? this is a totally new fault showing and iam wondering how you learnt the speed sensor is the cause ,unfortunatly their is no listing for resetting a mitsubishi service light in my alldata book so it looks like its a dealer only job although i bet its possible on this older vehicle somehow ,like holding the trip meter on and then turning the ignition on or the AM/fm button the radio or something equally bizarre

Usually brake light switch. It may be adjustable or may need switch
replacing. Having said that, I've never checked the brake lights when
those warning lights come on. Get a torch and lay an your back in the footwell... shine it on the brake pedal bracket and locate the switch; its a grey thing that looks a bit like a *** lighter and wedged between a load of loose spagettitwist it about 45 degrees anti-clockwise and it should come out, then get hold of the black plunger bit sticking out and pull it out a bit gently!!!it has a sort of ratchet in it, then reconnect it.
keep us updated.
