Sounds like your trans is not going into park. this can be a really bad problem if you let it get away from you. Trans repair shop for estimate, get a few and a guarantee with it. But as long as your emergency brake works and you don`t forget to put it on what eh heck.

I have a 1995 ford aerostar that park doesn't work. It says im in park on the cluster but the vehical will still roll if i dint block the tires.

Inside your transmission is a Park Band. It works like a break to hold your vehical from rolling. Most of the time this will break if you park on alot of hill and when it rolls either forward or backwards. You will have to take it to the shop to be repaired or if you know how to replace it your self. The transmission will have to come out in order to replace the band.

When parked and truck is in gear it rolls

If you are in gear, you are not parked. If you are in park, and the truck still rolls, use the parking brake and get your transmission check.

When I start the car, I can't put the car in shift mode. Unless I am on a slight incline and put my emergency brake on to roll. What is the problem and how much will it cost me to fix?

Can't shift out of park because I've parked on a slight hill and my car has backed up slightly jaming the parking pawl in the automatic transmission after I have shifted into park but before I have set the parking brake. This is a complaint that Ford owners have had for years. Try this proceedure to see if this solves you problem and best of all it's Free. 1st when you park develop the habit of; while still having the foot brake down apply the park brake firmly first and then shift into park and then release the foot brake. Remember it is important to apply park brake with enough force to prevent the vehicle from rolling. What happens is in the rear of an automatic transmission there is a coarse gear that has a lever that engages this larger gear and when you shift into park range this lever goes into one of the spaces in the larger gear and stops the car from rolling. If the car starts to roll it can Jam the lever against the gear and make it difficult to shift out of park. By using the procedure I've outlined it prevents the lever OR Pawl from being jambed into the larger park gear. Try to make this a habit and you shouldn't have anymore problems.

Car is difficult to get into park and once in park, won't start and can roll as if in nuetral

sounds like a broken parking pin in the tranny, car wont start because it has to be in park or nuteral to start it, put it in nutrual i bet it wll fire right up, with that pin broke there is nothing to keep the car from rolling so even though it looks like park from the shifers point, there is nothing holding it from rolling

2002 Land Rover Discovery rolls when it is in PARK.

It is known as the Parking Pawl assembly, and requires removal of the gearbox from the vehicle along with the transfer box. You then remove the extension housing (requiring new bolts) and then replace the park lock gear and o'ring.
