V50 fault codes

I have a problem with my temperature controls, a friend has pluged in his diagnostic tool and found the fault code C1 40 communication, central electronic module (CEM) signal missing. Is there a. Fix or part that needs replacement? The fault will not allow me to change the temperature while switched on if it wants to heat it will heat full pelt continuously, if I turn temp down to min nothing happens but if I switch ignition off having set it low and the restart engine it will then blow cold full pelt continuously. The same with the airflow direction controls.

I had the same problem. AC computer forgot where the adjustment flaps are.
- Start the car.
- Press Auto button on the AC (if you have this option)
- Increase fan speed (make shure it is not on minimmal setting)
- Decrease the temperature setting to the minimum -> "Lo"
- Wait about 10-20 seconds
- increase the temperature to the maximum -> "Hi"
- Wait about 10-20 seconds
- Set the temperature that you like.

With this procedure you force the AC to move the temperature regulating flaps to go to both end-positions and motors get calibrated again.

If this does not help, there must be a bad contact somewhere or the fpals may get stuck. -> repair.

Possible problem with the alternator not putting out enough voltage. I had the same problem with my 2002 XC70, putting in a new alternator fixed it. I used a local mechanic who I found on the car talk web-site. Low Cost Volvo parts can be purchased at FCP Groton.

When heat is on it blow hot ondrivers side and cold on ppassenger side.

Do you hear any clicking sounds coming from behind the instrument panel ? Electrically controlled actuators move temp . blend doors and they wear out .Plastic gears etc..
Electronic Automatic Temperature Control System
The electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) system operation is determined by the settings on the EATC module. The EATC system automatically maintains a selected temperature for vehicle interior comfort, including capabilities to maintain separate temperature settings for the driver and front passenger. The electronic temperature control capabilities are achieved by splitting the air distribution system internally and utilizing 2 individually operated temperature blend doors. The EATC system is composed of the EATC module, automatic temperature control (ATC) solenoid and manifold, blower motor speed control, 4 vacuum control motors, 2 temperature blend door actuators, in-car temperature sensor, ambient air temperature sensor and solar amplifier (sunload sensor) to control the various functions. Do you know about DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ?

The electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) system must be diagnosed by first retrieving any DTCs, if present.
  • An on-demand (hard fault) DTC indicates that the fault is currently present. An on-demand DTC suggests a wiring fault, disconnected connector or component failure.
  • A continuous (intermittent) DTC alone (corresponding on-demand DTC is not present) indicates that the fault is an intermittent condition and may not be currently present. A continuous only DTC suggests a poor wiring connection, loose pin or terminal or intermittent component failure.
On-demand (hard fault) or continuous (intermittent fault) DTCs can be retrieved using a diagnostic tool. If using a diagnostic tool, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
On-demand DTCs can also be retrieved by carrying out the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module On-Demand Self Test. To retrieve and/or clear continuous DTCs carry out the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module - Retrieve Continuous DTCs procedure. Always carry out the Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module On-Demand Self Test before retrieving continuous DTCs.
If no DTCs are present, GO to Symptom Chart for the appropriate diagnostic action.

DTC EATC DTC Displayed Notes Description Action to Take B2266 2266 N/A LH Blend Door Failure or Short Go To Pinpoint Test A . B2267 2267 EATC Only RH Blend Door Failure or Short Go To Pinpoint Test A .
  • The dual temperature control is inoperative/does not operate correctly - Dual Zone EATC
  • Temperature blend door/actuator broken/binding
  • EATC module
  • CHECK the temperature blend doors/actuators for a binding or broken condition. If no condition is found, INSTALL a new EATC module. REFER to Section 412-01 . TEST the system for normal

My volvo V50 2.0D is showing that i have a 'brake failure stop slowly'. This has come on after the service/maintenance light has been on for a week or so now. It has also showed that i need my 'anti skid...

Check battery voltage (engine off= 12V; engine on=14.4V), then check fuses, then connect with Volvo diagnostic tool and check for error codes.

My immobiliser is on and message says refer to hand book. Volvo v50

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

I have an 07 s-type twin turb0 2.7 xs, amber & red light on, friend checked with his diagnostics hand machine and said its the egr valve, Can you enlighten me on what this means and possible repair...

Your friend did they do the diagnostics associated with the code or just guess?

Hello

The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

How many ltrs of oil goes into volvo v50

Capacities are in the owners manual, As for the light read on.

When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

Hi, i have message appeared on dashboard volvo v50 2.0d 2005 "engine sistem service required", could you tell me what is that mean. thanks

Millage service message can be reset without dealer tools. However this is an error message. You need diagnostic tool to check the error code. All you can do right now is to enter hidden menu and check which module is reporting issue (DTC code).

Is there an ALDL port on a legend ...to plug in a scan tool

There is a connector but it is not like the connector used in the newer 1996 OBD2 cars, your year uses OBD1, here is how you check for codes in this car.

Acura OBD1 Codes Retrieval
Acura vehicles 1986-95 obd1 code retrieval
There are a few different ways to retrieve the codes for "check engine light" for Acura vehicles. One method is to use a led light (sometimes 2 led lights) on the computer or controller box itself. If it has 2 led lights, the color is red and amber. The red is used for flashing the codes whereas the amber is used for adjustment. If you have only a single led light indicator, then that is used for flashing the code.
The controller box can be found by lifting the carpet of the passenger side front foot well or floorboard. You can see the led lights without removing the controller. On other models, you can find the controller under the driver or passenger front seat.
The second way to get the code is using a jumper wire on the diagnostic connector located on the kick panel at the front passenger side. You then watch the codes being flashed at the dash panel after you turn the key on. To read the code being flashed is easy. Example: Code 23 is 2 long flashes followed by 3 short flashes. A longer pause separates the next code that follows.
Here are Acura vehicles 1986-95 general codes:
Code 0 Electronic control unit (ecu)
Code 1 02 (oxygen) sensor
Code 3 and 5 map sensor
Code 4 Crank angle sensor
Code 6 Coolant temperature sensor
Code 7 Throttle angle sensor
Code 8 Crank angle sensor (TDC)
Code 9 Crank angle sensor (CLY)
Code 10 Intake air temperature sensor
Code 12 EGR system fault
Code 13 Atmospheric pressure sensor
Code 14 Electronic air control valve
Code 15 Ignition output signal
Code 16 Fuel injector fault
Code 17 Vehicle speed sensor
Code 21 Spool solenoid valve
Code 22 Valve timing oil pressure switch fault
Code 23 Knock sensor
Code 41 Oxygen sensor heater fault
Code 43 Fuel supply system
