The are normally located in the gear lever itself.

A common problem though- check if your brake lights are working! In order for the solenoid to release, you have to press the brake pedal. The brake light switch sends this signal and if there is a blown fuse or a faulty brake light switch, it is the common fault for the solenoid not disengaging. These solenoids themselves are not a commonly faulty unit!

SOURCE: location of the engine diagnostic connector 1995 village mercury

The diagnostic connector is located on the engine near the starter. However, there are four connectors in that location and without pictures it would be difficult to determine which is the proper one

check/replace the starter relay switch in the relay box under the hood. The relay box is located on the front right of the engine compartment. easy fix, inexpensive part if that is the problem.

SOURCE: 1996 Mercury villager 96,000 miles- dies out

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: Rear brake lights remain on.

just simply unplug connector from brake switch located at base of brake pedal, if lights go out switch is bad, if lights do not go out you have a short to power on brake lamp circut before turn signal switch

Where is the location of the shift interlock solenoid of 2014 Dodge Ram 1500? Any video to help?

The shift interlock solenoid in a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 is typically located on the transmission shifter assembly. It is responsible for preventing the shifter from being moved out of the "Park" position unless the brake pedal is pressed.
To access the shift interlock solenoid, you may need to remove the center console or a portion of the console to reach the shifter assembly. The exact location can vary depending on the specific trim level and configuration of the vehicle.
It's important to note that working on the shift interlock solenoid or any components related to the transmission system requires technical knowledge and expertise. If you're not familiar with automotive repairs, it's recommended to consult a qualified mechanic or refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific instructions and precautions.

Where is the brake shift interlock solenoid?

Brake/Shift Interlock System The shift interlock system prevents the shifting from PARK (P) (when the ignition switch is in the RUN position) unless the brake pedal (2455) is depressed. The interlock system consists of an electrical solenoid mounted at the base of the steering column (3C529). If the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the solenoid has continuous power supplied unless the brake pedal is depressed.

Removal
  1. Remove steering column as outlined in Section 11-04A or Section 11-04B .
  1. Unclip wire terminal from solenoid.
  1. Remove insert plate and solenoid by removing three retaining screws.
  1. Pry off clip.

Installation
  1. NOTE: The clip which retains the solenoid to the insert plate should not be replaced for service. The clip's sole purpose is an assembly aid for the assembly plant. Position insert plate/solenoid assembly to the steering column and tighten the retaining screws.
  1. Install the steering column in the vehicle as described in Section 11-04A or Section 11-04B .
