SOURCE: exhaust mainfold

You can just unbolt this. Just as a word of advise drop the lower control arms when you change the header. And jack the jeep up all the way. This will give you a lot more room to work. It can be a pain to get in and out. I have went through three headers, they keep cracking. I'm going to try and use heat wrap this time. Good luck, don't get discouraged you can do it.

How do I remove starter on a 2006 4.7 cylander jeep commander

Disconnect battery.
Unbolt starter, move it down a bit.
Now unbolt wires (two of them).
Now wiggle starter around and get it out. On 99-04 grand cherokee the front wheels need to be on ground (or on a ramp) or the drooping suspension gets in the way.

Changing a starter on 2006 jeep grand cherokee 6cyl. 4x4, how hard is it, it in a tight location, any tips

On the straight six it should not be too difficult. It is on the passenger side of the engine on the back. There are two bolts that go straight up into the housing that hold the starter on. Then you have the wires going to the starter itself. I believe there are some shims between the starter and the housing, make sure you don't lose those. It is kinda a rough job laying on the ground, but entirely possible in about 45 minutes depending on your level of patience :)

Trying to change the clutch, having trouble getting the transmission off. Hoping for a picture of transmission on vehicle

Look everything over carefully. Did you remove all the bellhousing to engine bolts? Have you removed the starter and the splash pan at the lower front of the bellhousing? Sometimes the locating pins on the engine get a bit stuck and it needs a bit of coaxing to get it loose, but providing you have everything unbolted, it should come apart!

There should be a way to take it out. You have to turn it in different positions and try to remove it.
