How to replace fog lamp assembly of 2006 Mercury Mountaineer?

Fuses 4 and 8, but there is also a relay involved.

SECTION 417-01: Exterior Lighting 2000 Taurus/Sable Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 08/27/1999 Fog Lamp Removal and Installation

1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02.

1. Remove the aeroshield-to-sub frame screws.

1. Remove the seven screws and remove the aeroshield.

1. Disconnect the fog lamp assembly electrical connector.

1. Remove the fog lamp assembly.
   1. Remove the screws.
   1. Remove the lamp assembly.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Exploded view of the rear light assembly used on the Explorer/Mountaineer models

The Explorer/Mountaineer models only use two upper lens retaining screws, the bottom use barbed push pins

1. Remove the 2 (Explorer/Mountaineer models) or 4 (Ranger models) screws retaining the lamp assembly to the vehicle.
   
2. Remove the lamp assembly from the vehicle by pulling it outward. On the Explorer/Mountaineer models, make sure the 2 barbed retainers at the bottom of the assembly release.
   

Pull the lens assembly out from the vehicle body to access the bulb sockets

Grasp the bulb socket then twist and pull it out of the lens assembly

Remove the bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out

1. Remove the lamp sockets from the lens housing by twisting it, then pulling outward.
   
2. Remove the bulb from the socket by pulling it straight outward.
   

To install:

1. Install the bulb into the lamp socket.
   
2. Install the lamp socket to the lens and twist it to lock it in position.
   
3. Position the lens assembly to the body. On Explorer/Mountaineer models, ensure that the barbed retainers are aligned with their mounting clips, and press the assembly until fully seated.
   
4. Install the lens assembly retaining screws (four screws used on the Ranger and 2 on the Explorer/Mountaineer).
   
5. Check the operation of the lights.

pull out on the head lamp switch, when atleast in the park light on position

This should be a simple fix ...look under the bumper and see if you can remove the socket.It should twist right out.You may have to remove a protective cover under the vehicle to access the fog lamp assembly. After you twist the socket out you can replace the bulb...see link for all bulbs for your vehicle. you have to buy the whole fog light

Well, these are the steps and I will post the pic here in a second...looks like 2 screws...but like I said, you can see the picture for direction on this.


Remove or disconnect the following:

Front turn signal lamp

Connector

2 screws

2 claw fittings

Fog lamp assembly

Fog lamp bulb as shown

Fog light unit

To Install

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Fog light unit
   • Fog lamp bulb as shown
   • Fog lamp assembly latch the 2 claw fittings and 2 screws
   • Connector
   • Front turn signal lamp
