What makes a 1995 Turbo Diesel GMC Yukon accelerates on it own?

My 1995 turbo diesel GMC Yukon revs high then low when I'm idle and when I'm driving it accelerates increasingly even when I barely tap the gas pedal or let off it completely and will continue to do so unless I hit the brakes. when I am in park I lightly tap the gas pedal and the rpm shoots up and red-lines to 5,000. Any idea what could be the problem?

There should be a control unit on top of the engine that controls this to keep the engine at a certain temp which runs off the engine block temp sensore. I would try changing the sensors first located on the drivers side front of cylinder head and in the goose neck on top for one of the thermostats. It wouldn't be a bade idea to change the thermostats too at the same time.

this tells me that the injector timing is off just a bit or you may have a weak injector all together.

Welcome to Fixya
Error 41 is the butterfly spindle in the intake manifold just below where the hose from the intercooler joins. It should be open when engine running if it is closed it will cause boost issues and running problems.

SOURCE: engine idles up, down and low while under 1000 rpm

It is the ISC motor, (Idle Speed Control) it costs around $30.00 and can be found at most automotive stores. If standing in front of car looking at engine, it is located near the front towards the left. Your throttle cable is connected to it. There are four small screws that hold it to a bracket, pay attention to the rod with a small dial type wheel sticking out the end and you will see it go in and out of that motor casing. Your's is sticking. replace that and you should be good to go.

1.9 diesel VW with a non working turbo is it OK to drive anyway ?

Personally I would NOT drive it. Get the turbo repaired/replaced! Modern vehicles have engine sensors that will cause even more running problems as they aren't detecting the turbo doing it's job.
Diesels will run without a turbo but they are usually ridiculously slow and really really struggle to accelerate. This is especially true on smaller diesel engines like those you get in cars and smaller vehicles. I had a turbo fail on a 2.0 litre diesel engine and with my foot hard down it took me well over a minute to hit 50mph, and that was before I got to any hills.

Toyota Corolla 2 Litre diesel. Why loss of power at low revs when warm?

Sounds like piston blow by, as the gap increases and diesels have such high compression. When the turbo kicks in, the pressure is restored.

My 94 k2500 6.5 turbo diesel is idling high but when I tap the accelerator it goes back down and idle rough, when I try to drive it will jerk or surge, and it will also blows smoke what is wrong?pmd.

check that the turbo is fully operational ( variable vanes are free to move , actuator and vacuum hose are in good condition
the smoke is an indication that it is on on the job
the high idle may be from excess fuel and not enough air
and the rough idle and jerking indicates a air fuel ratio problem back again to the turbo
If you have fault codes run them and consider putting it on a chassis dyno for a full test of the pump and turbo

Engine revs take off on there own

Check out the throttle sensor. If its ok then you have a injection pump problem.IF you cannot turrn the engine of when the car starts reving then its running on its own oil.

2002 duramax will heat up underload but not at idle any ideas why

No diesel I have ever owned will heat up to operating temp while idling. I have had semi's and dump truck and a Dodge with a Cummings turbo diesel. If you don't idle a diesel up to around 1200 rpm while sitting the combustion chamber temperature will drop because the diesel does not ignite fully at low rpm. You may also notice after an extended period of idling 1/2 hour or more that when you pull away the exhaust will be whitish blue because of the unburnt diesel fuel sitting on top of the rings. Also extended low idle will wash down the cylinder walls with unburnt diesel and remove the oil from lubricating the cylinders and rings. Hope this helps you understand why your diesel won't heat up while idling. Mike
