I'd think that the vent adjuster knob/slider is not working correctly strip out the heater panel around the control knobs and check the vent direction is working properly either stiff operation so a little wd40 on the cable would probably do the trick or some thing causing the vent itself to not move

when vacuum is lost from the ehgine to the heat/ac system it will go to defrost mode, check for a broken vacuum line from the engine to the firewall

SOURCE: 1998 Mustang - AC blows only through Defrost vents

You probably have a vacuum leak on the passenger side. its a small plastic hose some times they come unpluged from the engine. or brake.

SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

SOURCE: PROBLEM WHEN SELECTING THE DIRECTION FOR THE AIR

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

Exactly!! Follow the vacuum line , I believe to be on the right side of the truck, and follow it back to the engine. I'll be willing to bet you will find a break or a modification where a mechanic has hooked it to the wrong port. Now it is also possible for this engine to have a one way check valve installed in line with the vacuum line. Look under the hood for any diagram since the vacuum lines on these newer models will be minimal. Let me know.

I have a 1975 k5 blazer and it blows cold air it worked fine last year but now it only blows cold air even on the defrost setting what can the problem be and how can I fix it?

A vent flap actuator probably needs to be replaced. It's what moves your vent flaps from heat to A/C or to plain "vent air" when you change settings.

The discussion in the link includes vent flap actuators. Unfortunately, they also include the infamous no low speed fan problem too.

Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

Your particular actuator will be a different one than they found.
They're all a absolute pain to get at because they can be well buried in the dash. I would start looking under the dash on the passenger side, that's where most of the air control is. Cannot get any air from dash vents while defrost and floor vents work fine...

No air will come out of the vents when the ac or heat is turned on dodge 2007 ram 1500

Does the blower motor work? If not check the blower motor--wiring circuits--fuses.

If it blows any air, defrost--floor--front of dash? Maybe a problem with actuator under the dash.

1996 Montero Heater Blower not working

I assume your heater setting is electric control, if so either your defrost and floor heat switch failed or wire problem. For the air not hot, check the heat control valve on the top of the hose it should be in front of the firewall. I don't know your car is using mechanic valve or electric control valve. Anyway check there first. Good luck.

AC is only blowing through the defrost vents in the dashboard?

I think your problem is the head unit that selects where the air comes out ie. Face, floor, defrost, or hi-level face and floor. If that's not working then it will not let you switch location that you want the air to come out.

REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE...Now blower is working but not very much air flowing out of vents! Fan speed is working...it heat and cools. but still not adequate air flow from the vents ..2000...

check your blower hoses to see if one or more have come loose or got redirected or the selector switch isn't functioning properly (is it blowing better on defrost as opposed to floor vents, or forward vents, etc.)
Good luck
