Starter relay clicks when you turn ignition key on

I don't know. Not all cars have a starter relay.
Relays are usually very reliable and it is rare the relay coil fails so usually it can be heard clicking when the key is turned to start.

If this is so an assistant might be able to trace where the noise is coming from. If the relay doesn't click, maybe the ignition/starter switch is defective, which might be easier to check than finding the relay...

Hi. If the click you hear when turning key to crank is from a relay start there. The fact you can hear the click means the ignition barrel is doing something and probably OK.

It sounds more like you have a bad connection somewhere or possibly a weak battery.

check the voltage on the battery ,, it should read a minimum of 12.4 volts, Ive bought batteries before that had lost some charge , if it has the right voltage,, tap on the relay you hear clicking (you'll need help , someone to try turning it over) make sure all connections are clean,, if that doesn't work, your going to have to have the starter checked

Usually the security light means it can't read the chip in the key.. the little black chip at the base of the key.
Try using a spare key

Im not sure what you mean by I jumped out the starter relay and the starter engaged.
so i am going to assume that you jumped from the battery side to the starter side on the relay and that engaged the starter... which is fine but you say the relay clicks when u turn the key. Pull off the clip on wire from the relay and push it against the battery side connection on the relay (u may need a small screwdriver to assist the connection) the relay should cause the starter to engage. If it just clicks (my bet) then you need to replace the relay (its really called a solenoid )

check to make sure yu have 12v at the battery, once you do turn the ignition to start, if nothing, check the fuse and relays that control ignition, if all is good then the click sound is coming from the starter, have the solenoid replace.

if it was starting up fine and stopped cranking all the lights light up on the dash but just dosent start look under the carpet on the passenger side the is another fuse box panel there if there hasnt been any water in the car it can rust it out and blow fuses and cause other electrical problems that what happened to us we are looking for this part right now my husband probe the wires and everything works

Starter relay clicks but starter is not turns over. Check the starter connections and starter itself.

I have both a Stealth, and a 3000GT, so I guess you could say that know a bit about the platform. this sounds like one of three possible things.

• Starter
• Starter relay (in that funny shaped box behind the passenger side headlight)
• "click click start" or maybe loose trigger wire at the starter
  

If you know anyone with a 3000, try to borrow their starter relay, it is about a 10 second swap, and you will know very quickly if it is the problem.

If the starter solenoid isn't even clicking, I am leaning heavily towards either a completely disconnected trigger wire, or a bad starter. If it is clicking, then it is most likely click click start

click click start occurs because Mitsu, in their infinite wisdom put a wire to the starter (the trigger wire) which was BARELY sized large enough to carry enough current to activate the solenoid on the starter, over time, and corrosion, the wire becomes too thin to carry enough current, so it does not fully engage the solenoid... the solution is to install a relay at the starter so the trigger wire closes the circuit in the relay from the hot power side of the relay to the trigger. The hot power side of the relay is ALWAYS on, and the wire is big enough to carry enough amperage. Thats the way I did it, you can also put the relay up by the battery, here are instructions for doing it this way, personally, I like the relay down tie-wrapped to the starter myself.
