2000 suzuki steem 5 gear jump ? - 2000 Suzuki Esteem

camshaft gear have a dot mark and leter e at top . on the cranckshaft have a dot to aling to the oil pump housing

Could be a faulty torque converter but that would not explain having to use a jumper. Have you let the engine run for 5 or 10 min before shifting into gear ?

my guess, is A/T (jumping?)
A/T is complex, take it any tranny shop.
they will diagnose it and tell you.

my wild guess is the tranny has false neutrals?
this is called FLARE,
its bad on the tranny , do not let it FLARE of the problem cascades.
if by jumping you mean it upshifts too soon or late say so.
if by jumping you mean , the shifts are too harsh, say so.
there are 100s of A/T symptoms, each as its own set of tests
and tools needed to diagnose this very complex tranny.
post a more clear symptom and we can better advise.

does it fail to crank when cranking over the engine with your battery?
fail to crank , is 1st. is it not cranking over at full speed by action of the starter motor?

you need a gauge that will tell you keep in the green and follow the instruction

need to replace brake light switch or at least test

You have a possible failing transmission, if u have a Aamco Transmission repair shop near by have them road test it, they *** it fro free

hi change the selectors springs and balls which hold the selectors in gear yates210456

maybe check the owners manual an see if a filter is listed as a part number. call the local dealer. google the phase. best chance for a result might be to go to napa or autozone web page and search the part :) my daughter has a 96 esteem so i'll check her owners book and try to post here again , sorry, good luck. : )
