Try cleaning out your intake (get some stp throttle body cleaner) try running some fuel cleaner through you gas tank, check you air filter. maybe you could replace your spark plugs and wires. these are just a couple of things I could think of that could cause it.

If you find one that has a 4-speed and the same engine size, then they will fit. What you need to watch for is that you get the correct gear ratio tranny to keep your car operating properly. I only know one way to know for sure and that is a number stamped just above the pan rail on the bottom oil pan. It will be long and have some letters at the start of it. You may be able to get that to a dealership and have them look it up. If the donor transmission is still in the car then the vehicle id number should tell you what ratio the trans is when it's looked up. That is how it's done with the US cars, it may vary a bit with the UK ones, but I am not sure.

I had the same problem a few months ago. If you locate the pressure switches on the door frames (which are pushed in as the doors are closed to switch off the lights) you will see that the centre of each switch is adjustable. Working on each of the doors, if you carefully pull the centre of the switch out slightly and then close the door the switch should then adjust itself and create the contact needed to switch off the interior lights. I don't know of any websites with pics or vids, but i can walk you through it. First, remove the trim panels between the rear door glass and rear windshield. They're just held in by little clips and should pull right off. Then grab the rear seat cushion at the front about midway to the middle on each side and yank it up sharply. Take the bolts out that hold the rear seat back in place, I think you have to lift it from the bottom to disengage clips at the top. Remove the rear seatbelt trim bezels. Slide the seatbelts through the slots and pull the shelf trim forward to remove it. The speakers are held in by 4 phillips head scews.

P0733 IS GEAR RATIO ERROR IN 3RD AND P0734 IS GEAR RATIO ERROR IN 4TH..THESE CODES USUALLY MEAN AN INTERNAL PROBLEM IN TRANSMISSION,BUT CHECK WIRES AT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTORS FOR BROKEN WIRES BY PULLING ON WIRES AND WIRING NEAR SOLENOID PACK FOR CHAFING..I HOPE THIS HELPS..YOU MIGHT WANT TO DROP THE TRANS PAN AND LOOK FOR A PLUGGED FILTER OR DEBRIS IN PAN..MAKE SURE THE TRANS COOLER IN RAD HAS NOT FAILED ALSO
