Try to check the bulb on the light unit the fault is given, checking the connector,or even renewing the bulb, probably the resistance of the bulb is down in bright but can not noticed. It had happened to a customer of mine on a BMW 528i ,even the lights were working fine,I renewed the faulty stated by the vehicle ECU and then the warning on the dash gone.
You need to replace the bulb with the exact same one. If you use 2 different bulbs it will trigger the warning light because of the difference in resistance.
Headlight on warning works through the radio and the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM has an input from the lighting circuit and when it decides that the warning should turn on, it sends a class 2 serial data communications to the radio. The radio then sends a cime tone to the driver's front door speaker.
If by chance, you replaced the OEM radio with and aftermarket radio and did not install an interface module, you will be missing not only the headlight warning but many other warnings as well ( low oil / hot engine, etc.)
check your headlights relay switch, dont buy a new one, go to a junk yard and pick one up for next to nothing if need to replace. its very common for europeans and germans car to have wiring problems. hope that help some..good luck
