I doubt that the alternator is going bad, because when they do, the battery goes flat. More than likely, you have a bad voltage regulator, which starts to fail intermittently, or the cable that plugs into the alternator is loose or has dirty contacts.
the battery is going weak. check voltage at battery when engine is off, should be at least 13 volts if alternator is ok. when running if alternator is ok, then it should read at battery post at least 14 to 14.5
The alternator is along the engine, just follow the serpentine belt and you'll see it and yes the alternator can be rebuilt, but it's going to be more economical for you to go to Auto Zone and trade your old one for a rebuilt and Auto Zone can give you the step by step instructions to replacing the alternator.
