What can i do after i replace the ignition in my 2000 camaro to reset the anti theft

Look too see if harness is pluged in or all the way in sounds like park and neutral safety switch not pluged in

by repairing the problem if activated usually a key problem or the lock cylinder ignition switch

sounds like gem module I had a 2001 did the same took batt cable off for 10 min and put back on and it worked for awhile it's the anti theft module a dealer can remove in for $ 150 hope that helps hope that helps

Most cars have an ignition chip on their ignition key. This is an anti-theft feature. If it gets damaged or your ignition switch doesn't read it properly your car won't start. Everything else will work your engine just wont crank over. You can replace the ignition switch and key or you could bypass this theft feature. Talk to a mechanic to locate your ignition wire under the dash near the steering column. You can get a resistor (at Radio Shack) that matches the resistance of your key. Cut the ignition wire and put the resistor in its place to reconnect the cut wire. If you cut the right wire and the resistor matches your key you can trick your onboard computer to allow the car to start. This is what I did rather than replacing the switch. Cost of this fix less than $3.00 this way.

IF THAT PROCEDURE DONT WORK.INSERT MASTER KEY INTO IGNITION SWITCH.NOW SWITCH IGNITION ON SWITCH IGNITION OFF.REMOVE MASTER KEY.WITHIN 10 SECONDS INSERT NEW KEY.SWITCH IGNITION ON.ENSURE SYSTEM WARNING LAMP SWITCHES OFF.NEW KEY NOW PROGRAMMED.IF YOU STILL HAVING PROBLEM RESETING THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX.REPROGRAM IT.

IF YOU GOT 2 SETS OF KEYS TRY ANOTHER IGNITION KEY.THAT NOT WORN.TURN ON IGNITION FOR 5 SECONDS.SWITCH THE IGNITION OFF.WAIT APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS.SWITCH IGNITION ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS.SWITCH IGNITION OFF.WAIT APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS.START ENGINE.IF STARTS OTHER KEY WAS WORN.IF CAR STILL DONT CRANK.THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACE KEYS AND ANTI THEFT SYSTEM AND REPROGRAM TO CRANK.ALSO CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE NEUTRAL START BACK UP LIGHT SWITCH IS WORKING.IF FAULTY IT WILL ALSO CAUSE NO START PROBLEMS.

DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX IT.ANY TIME YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ANTI THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO REPLACE AND REPROGRAM CAR.IT COULD BE KEYS WORN BAD OR IGNITION SWITCH AND PCM CANT RECOGNIZE KEY.THE CAR WONT CRANK.
