There isn't one. It is filled from underneath and a scanner is required to check fill level at a certain fluid temperature.

You can consult your Owner's Manual regarding the transmission dipstick, but don't be surprised to learn that VW has been using sealed transmissions for a number of years. I owned a '98 VX Beetle and they were using sealed transmissions way back then (and probably some years before that). Mercedes has also utilized sealed transmissions in their cars and SUVs - so it just might be a German-thing. You may be looking for a way to verify that your transmission isn't leaking, and that's a difficult task given the circunstances. Fluids on the drive are either windshield washer fluid (which readily evaporates), brake fluid (which also evaporated over a day or so, depending on volume lost), oil (which sticks around for a long time), and transmission fluid (which is mid-way between brake fluid and oil but generally reddish in color).

There is a way to access the transmission, but I do not advise attempting that since it might be a whole lot easier to gain access, but extremely difficult and expensive to re-seal thye transmission once it is opened (about a $600 - $750 job at best).

you do not say if the engine is performing properly or not. if it is low on power at all you could have excessive pressure getting past the rings and causing to much pressure in the crankcase.

SOURCE: 1997 jetta shifts hard no fluid dip stick

If your auto trans does NOT have a dipstick, you probably have what's known as an 01M transmission.

These are supposedly "sealed" units, however the fluid can be changed and/or checked, it's jut a bit more involved.

Google "Dan's VW page" for the proper procedure.

How do i check and add fluid to my 2006 vw jetta

It will most likely be on backside of engine, drivers side is a good bet but could be passengerside also. Add fluid through the same spot you check it.

I have a transmission leak on my 06 jetta 2.5. Can't find the stick to check fluid. Also under the mileage a wrench icon keeps flashing. What does this mean?

There is not a dip stick for the Trans fluid, it is a sealed unit. The wrench means it is time for service. The wrench can be cleared with help of the owners manual

How do i check transmissiom fluid 2006 jetta

Hi there,

Jetta's 2006 carry sealed gear box. There is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. Per manufacturer, transmission fluid requires to change unless there is any issue with transmission. I hope this helps.

Transmission dip stick

You have to buy one, can possibly get from wrecking yard but first make sure it is the same transmission by calling dealership and asking what years have the same trani.......must be the same because otherwise the length could be different and you would not get correct reading. But you really need one.
