My acura spare key doesn't work, how do i fix it?

so where is the original key? you can write vin # down and take to dealer and have spare valet key made but still will not be able to start car without original "chipped" ignition key, if its lost will car will have to be towed to dealership in order for key to be made will have to buy programmable key($80), car needed,hooked to computer through dear to reprogram entire system

its the drivers door latch one of the switches change the latch

you need to just replace the unit, Acura is having a problem with someof these radios units goign bad, sorry to hear that

Does the spare remote work? Have you tried to reprogram it? These remotes are very cheaply made and prone to key pad failure. To program the remote click this LINK, if that doesn't work buy anew one on eBay for cheap.

These vehicles use Fords Securilock transponder system to prevent vehicle theft. Basically, there is a little radio chip in the key that transmits a code to the computer when you start the car. If this code doesn't match the computer, the computer disables fuel and spark so the engine won't run. If you have a spare key, try that to see if it works. If it doesn't work, then the Securilock system needs service. Unfortunately only the dealer can service this system because it is integrated into the vehicle computer.

If your spare key works, then the key you tried to use has a damaged transponder and the key needs to be replaced. If you don't have a spare key, contact a locksmith and have them make you a new key. I have to warn you, transponder keys are not cheap. They can cost easily $75 and some even go for $150. But, that is probably cheaper then having Ford make one and even if the spare doesn't work, when you get the system fixed by the dealer they can program your spare key as well so you don't waste the money on the key.

try the spare key ,if that doesnt work then its a dealer only job .

I would take it apart and try a new battery. Make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts where the battery sits. If that doesn't fix it time for a new remote. Unless you have a bunch of miles on it it may still be under warranty. See your Acura dealer.

hmm....it could be your alternator or it could be your feul pump...or it could be ur distributor cap...hope i solved your problem :)

you will need a OB2 code reader. plug in turn key on press read or link. it will give dtc trouble code look up code which willput you in the neighborhood of problem. when problem is solved reconnect code reader peress erase code . If going for reinspection make sure you turn ignition on and off close to 100 times to simulate trips if it doesn;t come back on problem solved. if you dont simulate that cycle and go for reinspection it will come up not ready.
