SOURCE: 05 Chevy Aveo stalled and would not start.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Do you know if you have compression or not? You could have bad valves/pistons causing the no start. Also, have you thought about the ECU being fried? If it was, it would also cause this issue. Do you know if the spark was solid or weak? I am also wondering if you have/had a check engine light on? What error codes, if any, did you have? Is it still on? Thanks.

I'm attempting to do a timing belt change on my 2004 Chevy Aveo. The problem is when I took off the old timing belt I forgot to loosen the tension using the water pump. When I tried to install the new...

Yes,there is a special wrench that fits the water pump. You have to loosen bolts on pump and put wrench on pump and turn pump to get belt on. Then tighten pump till marks line up on tensioner, then tighten the pump back down. Be sure to roll the engine around twice and recheck timing marks on crank and cams.

The pump is driven by the timing belt.
There are mounting bolts that hold the pump in place.

Serpentine belt broke..replaced the belt and the battery but wont start..will turn over but not start..sounds like it is free spinning..could possibly be the timing belt

the timing belt is scheduled for replacement at 60K miles, but I dont know why the serpentine belt would break? see if the cam is turning, maybe peek in where you add oil.

Ok, i have a 2005 chevy aveo and i ould like to

NOW. These cars are notorious for timing belts snapping and GM has advised to replace at 60K. I have this car and it has an interference engine, meaning that if the belt snaps there is a good chance the engine's pistons will bend the intake/exhaust valves, meaning you would have to have the engine rebuilt if this happens.

I am about to have mine changed, along with the water pump and tensioner since the water pump should be replaced before 100,000 and involves the same labor. I've found that at a Chevy dealership the whole package ranges from $500-$800 depending on who you call.

I need to reset the timing marks on an aveo

The crankshaft sprocket points to 6 oclock and aligns with a mark on the rear cover, the 2 camshaft sprockets align facing each other. However, have you check your valves? This is an interference engine, and in most cases you will bend 2 or more valves if the belt breaks. Good luck!
