Probably not, but there is a very good chance that it will break the folding mechanism in one or more places.
I have installed tops for over 40 years and have seen that happen several times. It can happen even at speeds as low as 25 MPH.

SOURCE: Put in new stereo in 2001 Pontiac Sunfire now have no panel

Did you use a special wire harness? GM connected some computer system wiring with the stereo system, so if you replace this, there will be no chime when you open your door with the headlights on or keys in the ignition...and some other warning stuff. This special harness can be bought, but it is expensive (around 80-150$). Go to electronics store and ask for one. Anyways, hope this helps.

SOURCE: blowing fuel pump fuse

Did you change the pump? It may be drawing too much current and causing the fuse to blow... My recommendation is to replace that if you continue to have this problem OR unplug the fuel pump and see if it still blows... then it is a shorted wire!

SOURCE: 2005 pontiac sunfire headlight issue

I have run into a few of these and what I found was water getting into the wires that go to these headlights. The harness is just below the battery area.It will be easier to get to from the bottom of the vehicle. You will have to remove the plastic cover from the harness and the electrical tape.Find the dark blue and the orange wires. The dark blue is for the drivers side and the orange is for the passengers side. There should be 2 of each.Look real closely and see if you see a spot where the wires are slightly swelled up.These wires are only 18 gauge so it is not easy finding the bad spot. One thing you can try is pulling on the wires a little and sometimes they will separate where the bad spot is.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Interior and exterior fuse keeps blowing on my 1999 sunfire

if the fuse keeps blowing then there is an electrical short somewhere and this needs to be found and repaired, fuse keeps blowing so the wires don't over heat and cause a fire, do not put in a larger fuse than is required you can cause a fire
