Just had the same thing happen to me with my 2001 T&C. As soon as I explained this to the tow truck driver that came to tow my vehicle to the shop, he chuckled and said "put the key in the ignition and then hit the key with the palm of your hand a couple of times." Apparently the tumblers just weren't lined up properly. He still suggested getting the ignition replaced, but at least now I know what to do. Hope this works for you.

It's possible the tumblers have fallen in your ignition. I had a similar incident with a Focus I owned. Everything locked and I couldn't get the key to turn at all. They had to tow the car to the dealership and replace the tumblers.

There is a collar just behind(towards the front of the vehicle) the keyswitch. If you take a chokehold on this collar and turn it counterclockwise, it should release your ignition. I'm assuming you're not parked on a massive grade with the wheel cut all the way to one side. If thats the case than you've only got to forcefully turn the wheel in the SAME direction of the wheels and that will release the ignition and the wheel.

Thanks to the person with the wd40 suggestion. stuff that little red tube right up there and liberally spray. I just had the panic when I went to drive to the store in my 98 town & country and the key didn't turn. I read lots of varying solutions and was ready to get the emergency locksmith out here to replace the barrel and then I stumbled across that suggestion here. It made so much sense...and it worked. The barrel will probably still need to be replaced at some point, but not urgent.
thanks again!

I used a combination of the above on my 2003 Town and Country but I did it the easy way. I simply placed a screwdriver in the ignition where the key goes and I tapped the screwdriver with a hammer (LIGHTLY). Apparently, this freed the stuck pins and everything works fine now. I then sprayed WD40 into the ignition so it will, hopefully, not stick again.
