Simple the park start switch isn't functioning. If I remember correctly that is located in the center shifter console. Try pressing the shifter further toward the park setting. If it works now you may wish to adjust the shifter cable in the console. Otherwise take an allen wrench and loosen the retainer screw on the shifter and pull it off. Now remove the shroud to the console. With the console cover off you may be able to see the problem, but if everything stilll looks perfect and it still doesn't work replace the switch.

Where is the neutural safety switch located. The one that allows you to operate the auto transmission when the brake is applied?

Hi, welcome to FixYa.com my name is Shawn and I will be answering your question.

Sounds like you are looking for the shift interlock solenoid located on the steering column. If the car won't shift out of park first check your brake lights and make sure they work. This is normally caused by a faulty brake light switch located on the brake pedal or a broken wiring connector to the brake switch. You can bypass this by putting the car in neutral then starting it.

I hope my assistance helped you and resolved your concern, if you need further assistance please as

The torque converter clutch solenoid curcuit stuck on. When I start up the engine the car will go in gear, but for a minute or two while in gear, it will come out gear as if it is in neuture. At this...

If this is the case the torque convertor clutch solenoid will need replacement. You can buy some time by disconnecting it. The transmission will shift fine but the check engine light will stay on.

Car doesnt start have to shift to neutaral

The switch on the transmission that tells the computer that it is in park is bad. It could be that or you need a mechanic to reset the code in the computer. Your best bet is to have it looked over, but it only could be one of those two things. Hope this helps.
