Somehow the threads in the cylinder head have been damaged. The plug has come loose and been forced out by the compression gases formed during combustion. This is not typical wear and tear. The threads do not usually wear out over time. Were the plugs replaced recently? The center plug may have had a burr or nick that stripped the threads in the head as it was screwed in. Or the old plug may have been seized and damaged the threads on its way out as it was removed. Either way, you will need to have it checked. It may be possible to repair the damaged threads with a Helicoil, but it is not a do-it-yourself kind of repair. I would take it to a reputable repair shop and see if they can tell you why the plug blew out in the first place.

locating the thermostat housing there will be a thick hose from radiator to some where on cylinder head this will be the housing where you will find the thermostat undo the bolts take out old thermostat then reverse to put back

You can buy what is called a heli coil. That fills the spot where the plug was. Also, I would do a compression check on that cylinder.

Not easy of a job, if cylinder heads are good and just need to be machine, your looking any where between $850.00 and 1200.00, hope this was very helpful.

I can't upload the diagram but the firing order appears to be 1,4,6,3,2,5

Install the spark plug wire(s) (1, 3 and 5) to the engine right side spark plug(s).

Install the spark plug wire(s) to the retaining clips.

Install the spark plug wire(s) (2, 4 and 6) to the engine left side spark plug(s).

Install the spark plug wire(s) to the retaining clips.

You can get a copy of the service manual from Promanuals.net for cheap.

The mechanic should check on the distributor assembly and the spark plug ,spark plug cable. You should set first the distributor shaft rotate it counter clock wise or clock wise . according to the way you will set the spark plug to connect on the distributor assembly. If the timing will be 1342 there for the timing on the shaft should be set at the 1st spark plug and spark plug cable. When you hit the gas pedal it will back fire because of the distributor assembly and the spark plug is not set on timing or proper timing for compression.

take the two motor mounts off the front of the van this will allow u to get to the back 3 plugs or u can crawl underneath where the exhaust comes down at there is enough room to do it that way also

On the 98 Silhouette, the PCM should be located in the air filter housing.
