Is coding rich code
Had same problem w/ my 2.5L `97 wrangler. (which unknowingly I contributed to). both o2 sensors and coolant temp sensor contribute to fuel richness. I replace 2nd coolant sensor and both o2 sensors, that I believe were not reading correctly (fouled) because of gas treatment, carb cleaner and too much oil on spector air cleaner. I stopped the cleaners, and now wipe off excess oil and let air cleaner dry in sun. Gas improved from 55 - 60 miles per 1/4 tank back to 75 - 80+ miles per 1/4 tank of gas.
Check for leaking fuel pressure regulator. Remove vacuum line to regulator and see if fuel comes out of line. If so, regulator is bad and sucking fuel directly into intake. If regulator ok, you will need a scan tool to monitor sensor operation to determine what is causing the rich condition.
Double posted, now adds rich but not the actual DTC number
sadly.
why not post real numbers.

Could have a bad map sensor. The Map sensor is located on the throttle body. I have seen countless Jepp that start blowing black smoke when they go bad. That would be a good starting place.

check fuel pressure and check exhaust for leaks. exhaust leaks caqn play with the o2 sensor readings

Check the gas, could be water in it or drive the car with a fuel
pressure tester connected to it and watch to see if you lose pressure.
Normal pressure while driving is about 30 to 40 psi
SOURCE: How do I replace the interior LH door handle 97 Jeep Wrangler?
you will need a t-20 or t-15 torx bit driver to remove 2 screws holding the handle this is all that holds them on, on once you have a replacement handle it is easier to remove 2 lower screws on the door panel and unsnap the door panel to loosen it this will allow space making it easier to reinstall new handle just slide each end into the slot and reinsert 2 screws to not fully tighten until door panel is snapped back in. the panel is held on with clips and can be released using plastic pry tool around door panel edges.

There is a software update for the PCM that addresses this issue. TSB 18-028-06

same problem that I attributed to sensors. went from 55-60 miles per 1/4 tank of gas back to 75-80 miles per 1/4 tank of gas (2.5L `97 wrangler) by replacing front and rear oxygen sensors and coolant temp sensor. (encountered immediate poor economy resulting from fouling oxygen sensors by me putting too much oil on spector air filter [now wipe off excess and let dry in sun] and using carb cleaner and gas treatment that appears to foul sensors).
