O'Reilly show two but they look different. My searches show there are normally input and output sensors. I can find anything specific to locations though
What is a transmission control module? A transmission control module makes adjustments based on the data it collects from the different signals it receives. Some of the sensors that communicate with the transmission control module are the brake pedal position sensor, the transmission fluid temperature sensor, the turbine speed sensor and the throttle position sensor.
The information that the transmission control module gathers from all of the sensors is important in making determinations regarding smooth gear shifting. Processing this information and sending out the correct signals contributes to better fuel efficiency and better vehicle handling, as well as decreased engine emissions. For instance, the transmission fluid temperature sensor sends signals indicating if the transmission fluid is at the proper temperature. Based on these signals, the transmission can downshift if necessary. The brake pedal position sensor relays information that tells the transmission control module if the driver has applied the brakes. The throttle position sensor helps manipulate the timing of shifting.

No you won't need to replace the transmission the Digital Transmission Range Sensor isn't inside of the transmission and can be replaced fairly easily.
Here is a link to the instruction for the replacement
don't waste money in buying a transmission
It will be cheaper to take it to an accredited auto transmission specialist for a proper diagnosis and quote

The governor pressure sensor is the most likley cause however an inspection of fluid or debris in trans pan would be a good idea to make sure there's nothing excessive in it. Attached is a list of possible causes however the senor would be the most common.
