The turn signals do not operate
SOURCE: fuse for turn signal
I ACTUALLY HAD MY FRIEND TAKE A LOOK AT THE PLASTIC PART WHERE THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT CONNECTS... HE ADVISED ME THAT THERE IS A BAD CONNECT AND THAT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS CLEAN THE METAL AROUND THE PRONGS ON THE BLACK PART OF THE ACTUAL LIGHT BULB THAT YOU PLUG IN ... YOU ALSO NEED TO PUSH THE LITTLE METAL PRONGS INSIDE OF THE WHITE SOCKET BACK UP SO THAT THEY CREATE A TIGHTER/SNUG FIT FOR THE BLUB WHEN PLUGGED BACK IN.... I HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES SINCE HE FIXED THIS FOR ME ... AND MY 2 FRONT SIGNALS BEFORE THIS HADN'T WORKED FOR ALMOST A YEAR....
SOURCE: turn signal keep clicking randomly 03 malibu
To diagnose: Does the clicking resume to normal when the turn signal or hazrds on? Then:
Multi function switch is damaged.(seems to be common) This unit consists of the two control arms(turn signals and wiper control) on either side of the steering column. It is easily replaced. Cost, app. 200 from GM or 160 aftermarket. GM product is TRW assembled in Mexico. Aftermarket is made in Taiwan. Firstly:
Disconnect battery.
There are 3 #20 Torx screws under the steering column shroud. Remove them and carefully separate shroud and remove. It takes a bit to worm the shroud around the column tilt lever. I didn't check but you may not even have to remove the lower section.
There is 1 #20 torx screw on top holding the MFS in place. It also has 2 guide pins on the bottom. Remove the screw and disconnect the 3 electrical pin connectors. Now remove and replace with new unit. I did notice the steel pin that operates the horn(it pushes in and out and sits against a rotating plate in front of the steering wheel) was a bit rough so I smoothed it out with a small file. Now put everything back in place.
Anyway, that should take care of the clicking. It worked for me. rough so I smoothed it out with a small file. Now put everything back
in place.

SOURCE: turn signals work sometimes on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu
There is a problem with the 2003 chevy malibu hazard relay switch that causes the blinkers to work intermittently. On mine, they would work again once I turned the hazards on and then off. I eventually had this repaired at the dealer.
SOURCE: Where is the turn signal module on an 05 Malibu?
The modual is the trun signal it's self. Other than that it runs through the BCM and that distributs the power to the lamps.
Do the indiactors on the dash light up at all? Or do you just hear a clicking noise?
