Do the lights go dim when cranking? Obviously check the battery first, It may have 12+ volts but insufficient cranking power. If the battery is OK, get under the vehicle and thump the starter solenoid (the cylinder attached to the starter) with a hammer to loosen any internal rust. If this fails, you probably need a new starter motor

This usually is the starter, especially if your truck has had an oil leak going for a while as the oil will run down into the starter and cause it to intermittenly fail. Also check your battery terminals and make sure you have a good connectivity.
