2004 Lincoln Navigator

2004 Navigator - When the enertia is going forward the dash vents will blow cold air when the enertia changes the vents dont blow air on the dash but everywhere else is fine... i am assuming its the blend door actuator? Could it be a sensor or wire loose ? or do you think the whole actuator must be replaced? HOw many hours should it take an average mechanic to fix?

The blend door is plastic with plastic hinges that eventually break. If you go to a dealer, they have to remove the entire dash to get to it and it will cost you over $1000. There is an aftermarket door with metal hinges that you can replace by going through the glovebox and cutting through the duct. (You seal it later withe epoxy so it's airtight.) You also have to remove the center console, which is also how you can verify the door hinges are broken. Once I had all the tools and everything ready to go it took me about 3 hours. The fix will outlast the car (which has 463,000 miles, BTW).

SOURCE: 2004 suburban rear a/c only blows hot air

ase mechanic:
there are separate actuators for the blend doors. one for heat and one for cool. they work opposite and in conjuction with each other, if that makes any sense. ones open, ones close, for each different climate. sounds like the the cold one isn't opening in the rear.

SOURCE: How to replace a Blend

Blend door mixes hot and cold, not a distribution control. Look for loose or dislodged vac lines... Heater designed to fail in defrost mode.

SOURCE: In my 1999 Lincoln Navigator the heater blows hot air out of the rear vents but not out of the front vents. Why could thi be?

you have a vacuum leak in the selector switch for front heat explorers had similar problems

Testimonial: "Thanx. Is this something that can be fixed by myself or do I need to take it to a shop?"

2004 Lincoln navigator blows ac through dash vents until acceleration then switches to defrost, must turn ac off and back on to reset to dash vents

The "mode" actuators on this vehicle are vacuum motors. So you've got a bad actuator or a vacuum leak in one of the lines.

THE LINCOLN NAVIGATOR HEATER IS NOT WORKING IS BLOWING COLD AIR

check your antifreeze level, if its low then it will cause it to blow cold. or you could have a blend-air door problem under the dash: look for a loose vacuum line behind the glove bow for this. Or you could have a bad heater core.

Air stops blowing through the vents when accelerating

u have a loss of vacuum to the ac mode control switch, this switch applies vacuum to diff vacuum motors to move air to diff outlets, dash, floor, defrost etc. either the vacuum line or vacuum resivior at the engine is leaking or the mode control is leaking vacuum.

Air conditioner not blowing out of panel vents on 2000 Lincoln Navigator. It's blowing cold but when you cut on panel vents it only blows out on the floor and out of the defrost vents.

sounds like the leakages that operate the flapper are misaligned or bent. if its electrically operated then actuator could be going bad

Hi there...
well usually this happens, when the valve in the dash-board is defective. you can't replace it your self. its not costly, but the mechanic needs to dig in deep to reach it in most cars. i don't know where exactly it is loacated in the Navigator. but dont listen to any body telling to replace anything but this small in dash valve .

good luck i wish this helps u in anyway.
have a nice day
