It is called a thermostatic actuator; you can purchase one at most auto part stores or at the dealership. I have also seen a manual cable replacement kit that bypasses the thermostatic unit.

No and No...And it's the "MAS". "Unhooking" the MAS will place your ECM in the "limp back" mode...in other words it will run like ****.
Did you try the O2 sensors (3)? These are notorious for failing. Try a cheap fix...Buy a can of "SeaFoam" at Advance Auto Parts ($9) and add to your tank per instructions.
Good Luck

your transmission has possibly been rebuilt with stronger springs put in. No worries. have been running mine for along while without any problems. Better this than slipping, but it is a bit annoying.
SOURCE: I have a 1994 chevy k1500 4x4 and need to change pitman arm
Take the bolts out that attach the steering box to the frame and pivot the box so you can fit the puller on.
Leave the steering shaft and power steering hoses attached.
Mark the new pitman arm and old one in the same place and mark the pitman shaft to keep the same position of the new pit man arm on the old shaft as the old pitman arm.
