SOURCE: Gas Tank Removal

The first thing you want to do is disconnect the battery to avoid any sparks..make sure you know your radio code before diconnecting the battery.second: Raise the rear of the car and secure it with jack stands, locate the connection point for the fuel line, just above the rear end assembly.Remove the two c-clip connecting the hose to the gas tank. disconnect the feed and return line allowing the remaining fuel to drain into a container. Once the fuel is drained, proceed to the trunk, remove spare tire and carpeting. disconnect the overflow seal from the filler neck, which will remain on the neck and come out with the tank . Disconnect the fuel sending unit located on top of tank. you should have two straps holding the tank in place, remove them and the tank will slide out.

SOURCE: the gas gage on my 1985 jaguar xj6 is working and

It sounds like a change over valve is faulty. U have 2 check over valves 1 on each side of rear wheel wells. Also a change over valve that switches 1 tank to other. I recomend replacing all 3 valves for peace of mind, because when 1 goes the others follow. Hope this is helpful!

SOURCE: cant locate fuel pump to replace on 89 xj6 jaguar

in the boot(trunk in n america) lift out the ply cover on the spare wheel, and the wheel, between the wheel and the rear is a ply and steel filler panel, held in by screwa, unscrew these and the pump (s) is under there.

Have a 87 jag xj6 vp and it's been sitting for about a yr and gas is bad how do I drain gas from gas tank? thanks

Unless there is a drain plug for the tank, my guess would be to use a syphon pump like you would use for a boat.

How can I drain about an eighth of a tank of gas from the gas tank? Which line do I unhook from where?

use a siphon or bulb pump to remove gas from the gas tank. Don't unhook anything to do this because it may not go back together in a way that the system will reseal.

i have a 92 xj6 i just replaced the fuel pump should be the same for yours remove spare tire in trunk there are two straps two bolts take bolts out jack car up there are locate your fuel filter mine was under the rear door drivers side follow the hoses and they will lead you to the two hoses connecting the gas tank there are two pins to remove one on each hose do not loose those trust me they will be hard to find and be aware there is very little space to work in after removing tank the rest is easy remove the pump located in the tank and do everything in reverse also dont forget to replace the screen to clean all the rust out of the tank there is a bolt in the bottom of the tank to let all the debris out good luck

1993 jaguar j6 soverign

93 Jaguar XJ6, sadly the pump is located in the gas tank and the tank has to be removed from the trunk to gain access
Pretty basic replacement except above the rear axle underneath the car are where the fuel lines are connected, they are quick connects and are help in place with a spring pin, do not remove the spring pins, you just turn the pins to one side and the hoses will pull off, but you will need a rack to do this, It is impossible to get to the hoses with the car on the ground.
The tank itself is self is pretty easy, just be careful when you remove the screws holding the fuel filler gater assy as you can tear the rubber and they are expensive to replace.
Hope this helps
