Start in the morning just fine. after running a while and then shutting off, it turns over fine but won't catch. The pedal seems to drop to the floor. Now I pump the accelerator pedal and it regains some resistance then it might start. I've had the truck for 120 k miles now it has 330k on it with no problems at all other than the starter and replacing the clutch at 290K. Any suggestions?

could be that the electronic throttle could be icing up. just remove the air cleaner and have someone cycle the key. the throttlebody will cycle prior to starting to do a self check. chrysler has a tsb out for this concern. tsb # 14-002-05

Jim, I have the same problem. Looking in my Chilton's manual doesn't help much. But, if you look at the firewall from the driver's seat, where the clutch master cylinder rod goes through the firewall, you will see a plastic cylinder around the rod. There should be a wire that goes from that plastic cylinder and connects into a wiring harness. The manual says that if you separate the clutch position sensor wire from the wiring harness, and jumper the two contacts at that connection in the wiring harness, you will bypass the clutch position sensor switch. I have not yet done this but it is the recommended method of debugging starting problems. If you continue to have problems, I can email to you the section of the Chilton's manual for evaluating the starting system. At least I think I can get my computer to copy this section of the manual. The manual does not give the location of the clutch position sensor but that is the only location i can find that meets the description. I have a 1999 Ram 3500 4WD diesel quad cab.

You have fuel runback.Replace the injector leak off pipes then try.If this does not work then have a non return valve fitted to your fuel supply pipe close as possible to the punp.Hope that was helpfull good luck.
