This is a code for the fuelcap and Emissions fuel venting system. Perhaps a line was in the way of the oil fill and you jarred it loose. Your gas cap may also not be sealing.

emission light is normally related to your catelytic converter which means there is something wrong with your fuel n air mixture who services your vehicle a pvt guy or the agents

The vacuum lines run from the canister to the intake manifold. One is the purge hose to deliver stored fuel vapor to the intake to be burnd when engine is warm and you are crusing at part throttle. The other line is the vacuum line to operate it.

Fuel Vapor Valve, Aerostar (4.0L Engine) The evaporative emission valve (9B593) uses a small orifice, 1.83mm (0.072 inch), that allows vapors to pass into the vapor line running forward to the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister) (9D653). This evaporative emission valve mounts directly into the fuel tank (9002) using a fuel vapor separator seal. Fuel vapors trapped in the sealed fuel tank are vented through the orificed evaporative emission valve. The vapors from the fuel tank leave the evaporative emission valve through a single vapor line and continue to the evaporative emissions canister in the engine compartment for storage.

Fuel Vapor Canister Purge Regulator Valve, Aerostar, Ranger Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect wire harness from evaporative emission canister purge valve (EVAP canister purge valve) (9C915).
   

1. Disconnect wire harness from thermistor.
   

1. Disconnect evaporative emission canister purge valve assembly from fuel vapor canister and throttle body.
   

1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Not enough information to offer much help. However, take it to an autozone and they have scanners they will use to pull the codes from the computer and tell you exactly what is wrong. The check engine light is primarily for emissions. You probably have a bad 02 sensor, egr valve, fouled spark plug, or something else along those lines.

look by the battery there is a 2 wire switch with 2 vac. lines hooked to it see if on of the lines are cracked

one the component the deal with the vehicle emission system is bad or giving problem have an emission inspection done on the vehicle

is everything stock? and you have catalitic converter in place?

Stop by Schucks auto supply and have them run the codes. i'm sure there is a code if you cant pass emissions. your check engine light bulb is probably out.

and usually the first cause is the first o2 sensor.

has the cat been replaced? worn out cats cause high HC emissions

I can tell you for sure that all US models of the Ford Ranger came with a emission system that incorporated a MIL or check eng light, go to the dealer and have them run your VIN on the Ford on line information service, that will give you the engine Calibration of the emission system, you can then find out what emission system was used, export or US.
