Light bulbs require power and ground in order to work. The ground circuit for the left rear combination lamp is shared between the turn lamp, stop lamp and tail lamp. Because the tail light still works in that specific combination lamp, we know that the shared/common ground for that assembly is OK. The power circuit for both stop lamps (left and right) have the same origin; voltage flows from the STOP LP FUSE (15A) through the DBC RELAY (when the stop lamp switch is pressed) and then to each stop lamp via their respective circuit branches. Because the right stop lamp works, we know that the shared/common fuse, relay and switch are all OK. I'd suspect an open in the left stop lamp power supply branch and would recommending checking for voltage on the green & black wire at the left rear combination lamp assembly to confirm. Regarding the left lamp on the hatch, the wiring diagram indicates these are not stop lamps rather tail lamps only. I'd recommend installing a tail lamp bulb instead of a brake light bulb into that assembly as a first step. The flasher is under the dash.If you turn on the signal listen for it's location.Turn on your 4 way flasher and see if the left rear light is flashing. If it's not then replace the bulb.If it still does'nt work after replacing the bulb check if there is power to the socket. Use a probe light. If no power to the socket. There is a break in the wire or worse the signal switch may be the culprit
Your LEFT REAR is not working your RIGHT REAR is working? Either you have a Bulb that is Bad, Bulb Socket that is not working, or you have a GROUND Problem..
You need to also see if the TURN SIGNAL is working on the LEFT. If NOTHING is working then you know it is a Ground Issue. IF the BRAKE LIGHTS WORK and the Turn Signal does not, then it is the BULB.
Have you checked the socket to see if 12 volts is reaching the socket for brake light citcuit? Probe the wires with a 12 volt test light probe (avail from any parts store for about $6)
I had the same exact issue to happen just last week as well. Passenger side front sidemarker/ and right rear tail both out, as well as my dashboard lights. Replaced fuses and bulbs but nothing. Stange thing is Signal light still works,,and its the same bulb. Any answers would be appreciated. 1989 MBZ 300e
The rear left turn signal bulb must be replaced immediatly before it melts the light socket, if it has'nt yet. Also please verify that the correct light bulb is being installed. because even though many bulbs look the same they are not identical. Installing the wrong bulb can be the begining of many, many problems in the particular circuit
try checking the fuse for the turn signal if not that try replacing bulb turn signal is differnt than hazzards or try replacing flasher its a big grey cylinder on fuse panel.
we found the flasher curcuit had no power to the hot prong. So my friend wired the flashers hot prong into the radios fuse curcuit to get power to it and put a separate 10amp fuse on the new lead.
There is probably something shorting the front turn signal wires; the car is supposed to turn the signal light circut on and leave it on if it detects a burned out light bulb. The flashers, however, are supposed to work normally no matter what happens. Hope this helps!
